I don't see the attraction.

Bell was a whiner for most of last season after his playing time was reduced when Kevin Jones returned after recovering from his lisfranc injury. What makes the organization think he'd behave any differently in Dallas?

Just for giggles...

Bell's combine #'s in 2004:
5'11 212lbs
Bench: 25 (would rank 8th in this year's draft)
40: 4.37 (would rank 4in this year's draft)
Vert: 38.5 (would rank 2nd in this year's draft)
Broad: 9'9" (would not be in top 10)

I would have rather had Tyson Thompson than Bell out of high school, and I'd rather have Thompson now too.

Bell has been given the chance Tyson hasn't.

Bell ringing in Dallas?

Colleague Matt Mosley is driving right now and can't type. But he just called me with a tip from one of his Cowboys sources. Dallas suddenly is showing interest in running back Tatum Bell.

He's not the biggest name out there, only rushing for 182 yards with Detroit last season. But Bell, who was begging for a trade out of Detroit midway through last season, could be a nice fit as a backup running back. He was a 1,000-yard rusher for Denver in 2006. He's also a Dallas native and, at 26, he still has fresh legs.

free agency, Tatum Bell, Cowboys

I liked him coming out of college but so far I say yuck that would be a bad signing mnight as well have kept Tyson for cheaper

Only as a replacement for Thompson. If he was any good, he would have had more than 182 yards in Detroit last year.

That's the flip side of free agency. Sometimes the "name" guys really aren't better than the guys who are already on the team.

Just like joseph's julius/tt comparison, the numbers are fairly similar. If you're going to get a back like jj, then keep jj.

I think Wade is as infatuated with Texas guys as Parcells is about Jersey guys.

I rather take a look at Derrick Ward

He was very productive before he was injured last year and he be better than Bell

Yeah, I would think JJ is going to have to swallow a bit of pride before FA is done. I doubt it will be back with the Cowboys but he is not going to get what he expects.

If we can get him for a cheap price, bring him to camp and we'll see what he can do.

Except we would be getting a back like JJ for about 1/5 JJ's price.

As many others have said, I see nothing wrong with this move as long as we bring in another RB early in the draft.

I would definately take him on the cheap....it would be a prudent move by the Boys as long as they draft another.

I agree, it's not a bad move as long as we draft another RB during the draft.

What happened to Bell in Detroit anyway?

Was he in the coaches dog house? He didn't get many touches.
