And while Bell is a DeSoto native and would provide a nice speed complement to Marion Barber, at the current moment there is nothing to the Bell to Dallas rumors.

According to a source, there is not even a visit scheduled.
Again stay tuned.

Can't say that I would be excited with him on the roster possibly replacing JJ or Thompson, but there aren't that many cheap rb replacements either.

Besides, if the Boys draft one of the stand-out rbs in the draft and they perform well in camp, Bell can always be cut :)

Fingers crossed for one of the following: Meldenhall, Stewart, K. Smith, Rice

If we would be bringing in Bell to replace Thompson, that is OK.

To replace Julius, not so much.

That'll most likely be up to the guy we draft.

The point is if we bring in a cheap vet that is a speed guy, change of pace guy with experience, then we can draft the best all-around RB in a deep draft, not just a speed guy.

I would take Bell, Ward or M Moore.

Bell ringing in Dallas?

Colleague Matt Mosley is driving right now and can't type. But he just called me with a tip from one of his Cowboys sources. Dallas suddenly is showing interest in running back Tatum Bell.

He's not the biggest name out there, only rushing for 182 yards with Detroit last season. But Bell, who was begging for a trade out of Detroit midway through last season, could be a nice fit as a backup running back. He was a 1,000-yard rusher for Denver in 2006. He's also a Dallas native and, at 26, he still has fresh legs.

free agency, Tatum Bell, Cowboys

With the current cap situation, Bell might be the best option for the Cowboys (as far as the FA crop is concerned)... he's been at the top of my list for some time now, inasmuch as I figure Michael Turner wants to go somewhere he can start...

Bell would make a nice third down back, and is an effective kick returner as well... him and Barber and a back in the second round would make for good depth at the position...

That is what I am hoping. Find a 3rd rb that is a vet and is a team first guy who will do what is asked.

Then in the draft take the best rb you can. I am personally hoping they treat this like they dont have a rb already and that they need a feature back. I mean if they were to use one of the first rounders on a back I hope it is a guy they see as a long term franchise back.

Two guys like that coupled with barber and we would have an assortment of weapons on offense for romo. I am on the schmidt bandwagon too.

The prospect of the first preseason game showcasing Two new running backs, at least 1 drafted, a talented rookie fb like schmidt to go with anderson and the possibility of a young wr like hardy, jackson, sweed etc.. is very exciting.

There would be hell of a lot of talented youth to go with romo, barber, witten, fasano, crayton and owens. We would be set up for at least 4 to 5 years and each successive draft can be about getting the best players. It is the situation every team wants to be in. We could stay out of free agency every year because we would have filled those needs the previous years in the draft.

I cant wait till the draft! Its going to be like christmas for adults!
