News: ESPN: Dez Bryant: 'Don't test my loyalty'

I think they will be fair with Dez. Jerry has this thing about wanting to be everyone's friend on the team. He's kind of father figure-ish about it with some.

So Dez either signs here & makes millions or he goes elsewhere & makes millions. I hope he stays but if he doesn't the Cowboys will move on. I don't know if the quality of Dez will be in the draft or FA but we may have to see.

I think it's a lot of posturing right now. We'll see! Oh yea that tag thing. That may be what happens if I read correctly.

On the bright side, if we dont re sign dez we will be drafting a QB pretty high the following season lol

The one guy who gives a $!!! about playing football and they want to play hardball with him. Smh

Interesting.

So you're saying that Romo and Witten don't care about playing football?

I'm just curious because this statement seems to be a tad bit of an over reaction.

Remember hearing that Irvin mentioned something about our offense not being a "system" type of offense and a "man beat man" type offense. Credit goes to Zman5 for this:

"He also said that we don't have a "system that beats a system" type of offense like Bruce Arians and Chip Kelly has but more of "man beating man" type of offense.

This is why he feels EaGirls can let go of D. Jackson and the "system" will still function well but we need to sign Dez for the long term since we don't have a "system".

Based on the above, and it coming from Irvin, I'd say we'd have to resign Dez, unless we find someway to get another Dez Bryant in the draft which is a HUGE long shot.

What Irvin says actually makes sense when you watch our games. Doesn't mean Dez should get Calvin money, but he should get top 5 money unless we decide to install a 'system' as Irvin so puts it.

In typing this, I just realized that the bulk majority of our #2 WR's big plays are when the play is already broken down. Dez and Witten are the only two to consistently make plays as the play was designed which is a pretty bad sign considering our #2 is getting single looks and a less superior CB against him.

People say what has Dez done without Romo. What has Romo done ever?

I love the guy, but if we can critique Dez, we sure as hell can do the same for Romo.

Romo has virtually every passing record for the franchise and has carried this team on his back the majority of his career..............he is the reason we have been 8-8 instead of 2-14.

Even Stephen and Jerry realize this and that is why they said "its our family's fault that Romo does not have a ring right now"......................they have surrounded Romo with crap the majority of his career and asked him to be Superman and they know it.

Not hardball. Just negotiate.

They did it with Jeter.

All ended well. I expect same here.

Otherwise, he will be a Commander!

Don't want that!!!!

MLB and the Yankees have no salary cap - they could afford to overspend for an aged Derek Jeter with very little consequence.

Not that Dez is old - he isn't. But the Cowboys have to be somewhat reserved in their negotiations if they want to continue to field a competitive team. Dez is great but I can't blame the Cowboys for not rolling over. They have to try to get the best deal they can.

I figure he'll end up around 30 million

Do the Cowboys realistically have enough cap room to sign DEZ, Murrary and help the defense out.....How many $100million players can the Cowboys afford and compete for a championship......17 plus years since this team has WON anything significant..mostly due to poor management of the Salary Cap and BAD contracts.....Does Jerry resort back to the old ways.......?

Cowboys have a lot of players to sign.... is 9.9 Mil.... enough and still be competitive? I would rather fix the defense, and sign multiple players rather than breaking the bank and going into salary cap hell for the next 5 years.

How many $100 million players does it take to win?

Cap Room
Cowboys 9,917605.00
Eagles $19,962,721
Seahawks $18,012,398.
Cleveland $24,022,239

I am a pro-SYSTEM guy. I don't like over-paying a player on the expense of BUILDING a team or on the expense of the PROCESS. JJ should not get emotional here. If Dez wants more than what Jerry offers (that won't harm the organization and tie it to one player for the coming years) then let him go.

I HATE to see him go, but I am pro-team (of course 1 superstar on O and 1 on D as leaders are the exception) and the organization already committed to Romo so O is settled.

Based on the title alone, I am thinking Dez aint the loyalist player on the team. By saying dont test my loyalty, hes saying give me what I want of else. Thats not being loyal, thats being "gibmedat" . If he was the most loyalest Cowboy he would sit down and say what can I get leaving enough room and money to help the team. He may have to settle for less than Max, but thats what loyal players do.

Me thinks he protests too much.

I'm getting close to saying screw Dez. Let him go play in AZ or Cle. a team without a QB aint going to help Dez much at all. Course if he ended up in GB or NE, he could make me eat my words. but I dont like el dorado nor will I like el dorado jr. That will be my new name for Dez if he plays this game to the end.

I see no reason not to let him complete his contract before signing him to a new one. Let him show he can be the man for a whole season.

I'm starting to lean to the opinion that Dez should've shelved this until the end of the season if he's as loyal as he says he is so as not to distract the rest of the team in the pursuit of their goals.

Everything in the NFL since the dawn of free agency hinges on the success in the draft. You cannot afford to pay every guy full market value. So, you have to look for ways to get the job done cheap and rookie contracts are the best bet. The cowboys haven't had success n a long time b/c they haven't been able to string together 3-4 good drafts over a 6-7 year period.

I don't want the Cowboys to spend 100 million on a WR, but they appear to be going down that road.

Hope so because it wasn't JayZ reppin Jeter......he represented Cano and well, lets just say the guy who made a yankee hat more famous than a yankee king(which his ugly *** never did) just screwed over his team.

Why do you guys think Jay Z is agent lol? He owns the company. He doesn't actually sit there and runs it lol. Like when does he run it? During intermission at his concert with Beyonce lol?

Do you think Jerry Jones is a scout? He owns the Cowboys. He doesn't exactly sit there and evaluate talent. Like how do you think he drafts players and signs free agents?

Bottom line is he is a huge figure who has a huge impact on the situation, which is the reason why the Jones are upset with the hiring.
