This is a good position from Dez. He's basically issuing a respectable ultimatum.

Bad decision not to pay him now....for once.

He is going to have a mega year and we will have to pay him so.

He never once said I'm better then Calvin Johnson. He's confident in his abilities and stated just that. Yeah I want a bunch of dudes on my team who don't have the desire to be the best..

I'm not the only one who believes he implied that: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1820626-dez-bryant-claims-hes-just-as-good-as-calvin-johnson

"I believe I can do whatever he can do." that right there is he thinks he is as good as megatron. period. dont care if you read it sideways or upside down. fact is, he isnt.

His value is only going to rise, he knows it and so do they. It is in Dallas' best interest to lock him up now, but it's not like he is going anywhere if they don't get a deal done. Obviously they would use the franchise tag on him if necessary.

Show him a trade. Two 1sts would get us 3 new starting defenders next year. A smart GM would not payout to this position the megadeal that will be asked for. Or tag him 2015 & 2016 then trade

And this is why you sit behind a computer, or phone, talking like you know what to do.

He's probably asking for Calvin Johnson money. Allah help us if we give him that

if we pay that we will likely be in the nfc east cellar. Romo can find targets without the mega payout of a WR. Sure would love nice return on a trade.

Kind of shocked some people would trade him.

Let me get this straight...one of the fan bases that complains the most about wanting to win, doesn't want to sign their great players, when they deserve it.

And then you complain about Jerry putting together bad teams. lol

Yeah, let's get amazing players and just not re-sign them.

Nobody KNOWS ANYTHING,. I feel DB is at the highest pay level he will ever be at. No need to invest longterm. Don't fall in love with the player homies, don't be a Dez groupie, be a team fan. The cap can kill a team for years and the WR and RB position are behind the QB and behind the off and def line, behind the backs and behind the backers. A season or two of top 5 money would give the Boys a bonfire WR at the going rate he may deserve then trade and replace at bargain rookie wages and try to trade for help where needed. The players numbers are not to going to climb and this team has other receiving weapons. Sickening to read how many fans want to spend the house on a WR at the expense of being in position to win. We just are getting out of the top heavy cap and we need defensive players. Can't spend a dime on Free agency to solve any shortcomings when we roll it on the fan favorite. Best idea I had concerning DB is an immediate trade for some quality picks.

lol no, that's just stupid. You don't trade away player when they can finally make an impact on your team.

People complain about the Cowboys being horrible, and then want to trade the best player just so he doesn't get paid?

Good god. Then what? Trade those players in 3 years, because they'd want bigger contracts too? Never ending cycle.

Contract negotiations are not simply "here's what I want" and "here's what we're offering."

I imagine that, similar to Tyron Smith's deal, there is a lot of discussion ongoing between the agent and the organization concerning upcoming years, particularly with TV deals and more and expected salary cap increases. Balancing that against other future projections of the salary cap and still fitting the needs of the organization and desires of the player into the long-term plan are likely what is taking this longer to work out than people think.

It's kind of like business mergers -- they don't just happen overnight. This deal and extension has probably been in the works for a year or more at this point.

No i'm curious. You want to trade our best player away, because he wants to extend his contract with the Cowboys.

What do you do with the rookies you get from the trade, in 3 years? Tradee them away too? Why even bother keeping Williams, Frederick, Martin or any other good player? Let's trade them all, because they'll want extensions eventually.
