No i'm curious. You want to trade our best player away, because he wants to extend his contract with the Cowboys.

What do you do with the rookies you get from the trade, in 3 years? Tradee them away too? Why even bother keeping Smith, Frederick, Martin or any other good player? Let's trade them all!

1st off you completely forget the cap space saved and didn't even acknowledge that as a fact. You want to tie up 15 mil per year for HOW MANY SEASONS? on a guy with potentially a back problem. A kid who is immature and has had maturity issues his entire adult life. A WR who leaves the field when his team is down and also embarrassed. Can't block, can't hold on to the football (led the team in fumbles 2014) can't return punts anymore. Demands the ball while the team is loaded with capable receiver options. Can't kep emotions in check..sideline tantrums and helmet violations at the critically wrong moment!?? And you want to talk bout rookies? The rookies won't all be WRs my friend. When you don't max out you're cap You are ABLE to sign Smith, Fred, Martin and other keepers. Dez is the best to the fans who are enamored with "the player". To me he is far away from the teams best player and I feel the team can win as many games without him. If not, I,ll take my 15 mil cap saved PER YEAR, and my extra 1st round draft pick or two, my star players resigned, and if the team gets buried this year without DB, I'll gladly take that high draft pick too. I've also always been curious what makes the DB homer mind tick.

88 Michael Irvin best Cowboy WR ever!

Not a homer at all, i just think it's completely stupid to trade away your best player, for rookies who may never even pan out.

If other teams can sign their top players, and still be competitive, we can too. Weird to think we can't but others can. Don't see the best teams in the league trading away their best players. It's how they become good in the first place...

The whole homer argument, is for kids. If you can't debate without it, maybe the internet isn't the place for you?

From what I've gathered he wants Megatron money, (8 yrs - 132 mil) which is ridiculous because CJ is head and shoulders the best WR in the game. Dez is a hall of fame caliber player but investing almost 1/4 of your cap to a QB and WR isn't very fiscally responsible.

Dallas wants to do the average of the top 5 WR contracts in the league which is fair IMO because Dez is in that class.

I can see them settling around Larry Fitzgerald numbers - 8 years 120 mil.

My prediction: 8 years 110 mil with 45 in guaranteed money done next Friday.

You like the word stupid when you address my comments? You mention the word two different times. I know of a guy who is pretty stupid and he calls out others on the internet by the same name he is known as. I pity him. Back to football and the topic. The best player on theCowboys does not play WR and that is where we differ. The value we each place on DB is far from becoming an agreement.

Are we not allowed to say when an idea is stupid? Serious question.

And well, i agree to disagree, even if he's just top 3 best player in your mind...not many teams trade that player, especially when his prime just began.

You expect him to sign for less money (and less guaranteed money) than Fitzgerald got 3 years ago? I'd be very surprised.

Explain yourself

"Two 1sts would get us 3 new starting defenders next year."

Who's to say these 3 new guys would even pan out? Trade a sure thing, for something unproven?

What if all 3 blow up, and are all world, then what? You trade them too? Because you want to be a cheap ***? Gamble elsewhere again?

Then what about our WR position? Rely on Beasley and Williams to hold down the fort? A guy still learning to catch with his hands, and not body, and another, only proven to excel at quick short routes? Who else Harris? and a bunch of unproven guys?

Like I said, there is a reason you are sitting behind a screen, typing away. You are a internet coach/GM. Stick to madden.

I'm not the only one who believes he implied that: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1820626-dez-bryant-claims-hes-just-as-good-as-calvin-johnson

"I believe I can do whatever he can do." that right there is he thinks he is as good as megatron. period. dont care if you read it sideways or upside down. fact is, he isnt.

He never stated I'm better then Calvin like you implied. So what he believes in his abilities what is the problem with that? You're making something out of nothing

I have said this before ..... I think Dez is a phenomenal talent. He is arguably in the top 5 receivers in the league, and could arguably be as good as number 2, but he isn't in the same league as Calvin Johnson. On the other hand, you could also argue that there are about 15 other guys who are just as good, and just as productive as Dez.

Resigning Dez does two things:

1. Assuming good health (and that he keeps his head on straight) he is a perennial pro bowl contender at his position at an important position.

2. It ties up a lot of cap room.

Resigning Dez is good and bad. For those of you who would not trade DEZ under any circumstances, you are fooling yourselves as to his value. There is a point where the amount that is offered for him is just too good to pass up. (Think the Herschell Walker deal).

If someone offered a first, a second and a third in 2015, and a first rounder in 2016, you wouldn't trade him? If so, I'm sorry, but I think keeping him would be the wrong decision in that instance. I'm not so sure that two firsts wouldn't get it done. First rounders can be signed for 5 years at bargain basement prices.

With four first round picks in two years you could move down a little with one of the first rounders in each year and end up with two firsts and two seconds each year for two years, and that is if you just trade him for two first round picks. THAT IS A HUGE ADVANTAGE GOING FORWARD NOT ONLY IN TALENT, BUT IN TARGETING A SPECIFIC PLAYER WHO YOU REALLY WANT BAD.

Sadly you would sign DB at any cost no matter what. 15 mil at what 10 years? lol Imagine the players that could be signed in free agency just where we need them. Oh! you block that all out, that right. Witten is a sure thing. Beasley & Williams are sure. I'm fine with Escobar and Street to take some catches. Run the ball too. Is there a playoff team that pays out 15 per to a WR? A cheap ***? You lose when u give me the***........lol at you're outlook

I don't understand some fans' loyalty to a specific player. They would resign a guy to whatever he wants.... the sky is the limit. That doesn't make any real world sense at all.

give me a 1st and a 2nd and I would be estatic.

he can think all he wants...piddly jimmy graham has more career TD's...more 2013 TD's as well

Career 59 45 293 4104 14.0 40 85 5.0 69.6
Career 62 37 301 3863 12.8 41 59 4.9 62.3

Keep in mind that the Saints have outscored the Cowboys 1807 pts to 1620 pts for their careers. We finished the last four years in pts/yds 5/16, 15/6, 15/11, and 7/7. NO 10/4, 3/2, 2/1, and 11/6. So NO has been more prolific.

Which receiver owns which stats? G, GS, Rec, Yds, YPC, TD, Lg, and YPG

http://www.star-telegram.com/2014/08/25/6067116/ready-or-not-the-cowboys-host.html

Seven receivers make an average $10 million a season, including four at $12 million. Calvin Johnson has the highest-paid average at $16.25 million. Bryant wants to be paid commiserate with those receivers — Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Brandon Marshall, Percy Harvin, Mike Wallace, Vincent Jackson and company.

Bryant’s 25 TDs since 2012 are tied for first among all receivers. He ranks sixth in yards and seventh in receptions during that time.

“I believe a player should get paid what he deserves,” Bryant said. “If I’m top five, I’m top five. If I’m top three, I’m top three. If I’m top two, I’m top two. It is what it is.”
