He had more than 1 good season, when given the chance even behind guys like Costa, and company he still ran well.

Exactly, most forget or just don't care to remember the good games Murray had while the OL was still in transition 4 years ago. He set the Cowboys single game rushing record as a rookie while the OL was in transition with Tyron Smith being the only #1 pick upfront. None of the other backs the Cowboys had during the OL's transitioning years were as effective as Murray. In the games he missed due to injury the Cowboys running game suffered without him most notably in 2013 vs Detroit when Randle who got the start only averaged 1.9 a carry and took a 3 yard loss on the Cowboys final possession with the team trying to run out the clock with only 1:02 left in the game. The Cowboys inability to run the ball that day exposed their defense and got them beat in the final seconds. It was a game that contributed to the Cowboys missing the playoffs that season.

I don't buy the thesis of the article. It clear to me that the Cowboys, on paper, on the clearly superior team.

Having said that, the 3 headed monster of Murray / Matthews / Sproles is pretty darn good.

....and so was the other 3-headed monster he slowly but surely let go.

This writer just like Peter King and others are somewhat brain dead in that they can not and will not imagine a world where Dallas can run the ball and play keep away without Demarco Murray. The team that has Murray is the team to beat in their minds.

Yeah...they act like Murray woke up like dis.

I don't mind people picking against the Cowboys if the give a legit argument as to why, not so made up crap.

For example........................good argument as to why the Cowboys will not win the East......................no team has won the East back-to-back in the last 10 years.

Bad argument as to why the Cowboys will not win the East........................Bradford is a stud at QB and you need to keep the ball out of Romo's hands.

How on earth do you think the Eagles can compete with a guy who has been in a bodycast his whole career (and hasn't been that good when he could actually play) and a guy who has had 1 season where he had more TDs than turnovers at QB?

We still have the best o-line in football that is really good at making huge holes, and we still have THE BEST QB IN FOOTBALL (yes I said it, he was #1 last year in QB rating, YPA, and completion %, first guy ever to lead in all 3 of those categories and not win MVP), one of the best WRs in football, and d-line that will have 40+ sacks (yes once again... I said it) and a far improved back 7. Yes we lost Murray and got worse at RB, but we improved at every other position group except for maybe WR (though even there Beasley this year >>> Beasley 3/4 of last year). That is how we will compete.

Nice post...I think many lose the perspective of the word "team". Most of this discussion about Murray or the other RB's, don't take into account that the team has upgraded the concept of team.

Yes, the Cowboys lost an important piece of the team, but that was only one piece. However, they upgraded all along this young team with other pieces that they needed elsewhere to help build a team. Losing Murray is a big deal...but, if you think about it, maybe not? A team is not comprised of just one man.

What is the Dallas Cowboy motto?

NEXT MAN UP

lol Philly downgraded at RB, WR, and QB... and if Bradford can't stay healthy they REALLY downgraded at QB. They overpaid an above average corner for $60million and traded for an injury prone linebacker... yaayyy

DeMarco Murray's 8.9-yard good blocking yards per attempt (GBYPA) total ranked tied for 11th, but more importantly, he did this on a league-leading 160 rushing plays with good blocking. It shows Murray is capable of posting quality production over the course of an entire season.

No, what that really shows is that he left a team that gave him more good blocking than anyone else in the league. What I can't fathom is how the writer considers it a positive for the Eagles and Murray that Murray had 160 plays with good blocking while playing for the Cowboys. That should be a factor in the Cowboys favor, since they are returning the OL that produced such great run blocking.

I'm not seeing one. Can you point me in the right direction? What I'm seeing is someone engaged in Olympic level mental gymnastics to wipe away any potential flaws for the Eagles while failing to afford any similar treatment to the team you're supposedly a fan of. You know, like you always do. Have a tums, you've got a severe case of keyboard diarrhea.

Your username points to the agenda you have and if you ever accuse me of not being a Cowboys fan or follow an opinion I have with an insult or submit a reply to any of my posts with comments that are anything less than civil you will be vaporized from my viewing list. You've just been pointed you in the right direction and if you don't stay in the right direction it will be see ya! No one is wiping away any of the flaws Philly has the potential for their season to go down the drain clearly exists if Bradford goes down or doesn't play well. Both the Cowboys and Eagles have made a few significant changes that could affect both teams positively or negatively. The Cowboys are banking on their OL to keep their running game going despite having 3 average backs. Philly is banking on Bradford staying healthy and being able to play effectively in Kelly's fast pace offense.

Bradford isn't the most mobile QB and who knows how well he'll be able to move coming off back to back ACL's. Losing Maclin is going to affect their passing game unless their top pick can make an impact. Trading McCoy has given Philly a potentially great young LB provided he can get back to the level he showed in Buffalo as a rookie. Murray is a loss for the Cowboys and anyone here who thinks the team won't feel it some is kidding themselves. The Cowboys are going to have to face him twice provided he stays healthy and it won't be easy containing him. He made a lot of runs due to huge holes by the OL but he also made some terrific runs on his own due to the talent he has. Both teams have areas they need to improve but the Cowboys can't just worry about Philly with Cruz coming back with the Giants along with Beckham Jr. The Giants may also be a team to reckon with and if the Cowboys and Philly focus too much on each other the Giants could sneak up on them.

Well, every QB the Eagles have had under Chip Kelly has gotten injured. Now we are saying that Sam Bradford, who has an injury history that would make Chris Chandler blush, is going to stay healthy in the Eagles' system

Pretty optimistic if you ask me.

I asked my softball team who they would rather have at QB and all 10 guys including myself said they would rather have Foles over Bradford. None of us are "experts" though like the writer of this article

...it's so ironic that they were picking Foles over Romo when he threw all those TDs & just 2 INTs. That's your definition of lack of integrity.

Good. Let all the media across the land proclaim the Iggles the Kings of the NFC East. For their stone walls and swift arrows will be nothing but twill's in the feathers of their conquerors. For once the Barbarians from the land of Dallas swiftly move eastern across the deserts and mountains, their relentless pursuit and desire for blood and cries of our enemy shall be heard by all! The Barbarians from Dallas will stand upon the sands of the tournament once again, to know clear purpose of who they are and what must be done... that is a thing that calls to all of our kind.

Not really sold on this. I think Sproles has slowed down a lot and getting another year older won't help. Matthews can't stay healthy and that won't change here. And we'll see about Murray, can he run behind that offensive line effectively because it isn't near as good as ours and no I don't care about what ranking that oline had last year. I also don't think Murray will duplicate what he did last year because the history of RB's with a year like that and carries like that. So no I'm not sold on them being pretty darn good.

I also think people are discounting chemistry. It will play a factor once the dog days of the schedule hit.
