Ah.

Here's what happened it looks like. tyke1doe accidentally posted the thread twice. He asked that one be deleted. I was deleting the other one at the same time they were being merged by someone else.

Honest mistake and easily fixed.

That makes sense. At first I thought it got moved to the Daily forum, but then it wasn't there either.

I thought that was what the Ravens offered him as a coach.

If that was offered as OC money by JJ, that's even more insane and unbelievable.

Oh ok. Yeah I agree. Insane on both counts.

First off some of you need to remember that this was Garrett's first year as an OC and he did a pretty good job with both Romo; and successfully getting along with TO is a work in itself. Do agree we didn't play well offensively the last 3 weeks and there certainly problems offensively in the Giants game which not all on Romo. Garrett will be a better OC in his 2nd season just like Romo will now have the chance to work in the same offensive system for his
2nd consecutive year rather then face his 3rd different offensive scheme in 3 years. Also Garrett just like Phillips now knows his offensive players well and what needs to be done. Frankly, there's no doubt in my mind that Romo wanted Garrett back.

Now all Jerry has to do along with his scouting department and input from Phillips is to draft well which means getting us a young quality #2 WR, CB, RB & frankly an ILB who can really help out our secondary against the pass. Also think we add at least 1 good FA who hopefully provides vet leadership and fire/intensity to this lacks

We could use a few of those Michael Irvin type players on the field and in the lockerroom.

We have all analyzed to death the reasons why we lost to the gnats last week...dropped passes, penalties, incomplete routes, injuries, bad calls, bad snaps...etc... etc ...etc

JMO....but ALL of these are normal occurences in the game...

It has been painfully evident for quite some time that there is no one on the field to FIRE our team up...say what you will about players like Ray Lewis, but that kind of emotional INTENSITY can turn the tide of a game...

It is good to see that some other teams view him as a HC candidate, even though I think it's too early for him.

At least if he does eventually become our HC, we'd be getting someone that other NFL teams actually wanted - which is a far cry from the Switzer, Gailey and Campo years.

I don't think Wade is a lame duck or at least my understanding of the word lame duck. Jerry was willing to do what he could to keep Jason short of letting Wade go so I don't think Wade lost any power within the organization and could be looked at from the point of view that Jerry believes in Wade that he was willing to risk losing Jason

I think this is very well put.

Plus, Wade knew of JJ's infatuation with Red before Wade took the job.

I had a feeling that once Jerry got the last word, he would stay...

Say hello to your next Cowboys coach...

This is good news...

That's a good point.

After Jerry fired Gailey, there were several coaches who reportedly turned down the opportunity to even interview at Dallas. Jerry waits several weeks and then taps Campo, who no team had ever contacted for a head coaching interview.

Where we are now is far cry from those days, thankfully.

I think some are just getting carried away. If Jones did not want Wade here Wade would be fired and Garrett would be named HC. As of now Jerry has said he was willing to do whatever to keep Jason short of firing Wade Phillips

Understatement for me there Chief. I was fed up with Parcells at the end but I still think one of the happiest days of my life was the day he was hired. I said it at the time. It was my wife's birthday and I fell I got the best present that day.

GARRETT TO MAKE MORE THAN WADE?
Posted by Mike Florio on January 17, 2008, 10:50 a.m.
A league source tells us that Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett will earn $3.5 million to $4 million per year as part of a four-year contract to stay with the team.

That’s clearly the richest deal for any NFL assistant coach, and substantially more than many head coaches.

Said one source, “Garrett and [agent David] Dunn used the Ravens to drum up the price. In the end, Garrett wanted more money than the chance to be a head coach.”

As a result, champagne corks are surely flying throughout the league as head coaches and assistants anticipate the rising salary tide.

In Dallas, the problem is that Garrett could now be making more money than Phillips, who reportedly gets only (only?) $3 million per year.

Then again, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones might give Wade a raise for 2008 in order to allow the head coach to save face. But that could only increase the chance that Phillips will get fired after the coming season. Really, why pay two head coaches when a team only needs one?

Of course, Jones’ other option is to fire Phillips right now. But why pay him $3 million not to work in 2008 when Wade can essentially serve as head coach-defense while Garrett serves as head coach-offense?

And, frankly, we don’t rule out the Cowboys aligning the two coaches with joint head-coaching titles. What better way for Jones to make it known to the world that he’s the guy who ultimately runs the show?

The question is how does the team respond to a lame-duck coach?
Well they just went 13-3 in Wade's first season as a lame duck.

I think equivalent is Wade has been put on super secret double probabation. What did Jerry do or say to keep Garrett other than give him money, because he would have gotten paid regardless. Or maybe Garrett is just biding his time until one of the New York jobs open up.

Oh brother. Hey if he keeps stretching he just might reach something.
