Has Carolina released/discussed the parameters of whatever deal they offered him? They may have been trying to squeeze him for a big hometown discount.

It was reported they offered 4/44m, which would be pretty low-ball. The franchise tag is 14m and is usually the starting point.

You do realize they were negotiating a new contract before and after they tried to tag him, right?

One year at 14 million may be great, but that's obviously not what he was looking for or he would have signed it right away. /caseclosed

Yes, case closed. He wanted Carolina, but he didn't get it did he.

Obviously he wanted the most guaranteed money he could get over the life of a contract, not a one year $14M deal, no matter where it was. Carolina low-balled him. They wanted a hometown discount and Norman told them to shove it. Scampering back to try and sign the franchise tag was only because most teams had spent all their money already so he knew he wouldn't have his pick of teams, like he would next year as a free agent.

Carolina had reportedly offered a deal of 11 mill a year which is just a little less than Janoris Jenkins who has performed better. What Norman is getting makes him the highest paid CB in the league and while I think he is very good I don't think 1 good season makes him elite and in the same category as Revis or even that of Patrick Peterson. I don't blame Norman for signing with the skins hell skins have been known to make some bonehead move and overpay this is par for course for the skins but because the skins were stupid did not mean other teams needed to be as well

I didn't say he wouldn't be okay. I just said he didn't get what he wanted which was on the table. It's like you want a Audi, but you argued until the sale on Audi was over and then you had to get a BMW (its still on sale) that is nice, but not what you really wanted. You still got a nice car, just not the one you want. (or the one that has a shot at a Super Bowl next season)

The Panthers wont have a soft schedule (nfc east, afc south, nfc south) likd they did last year, I doubt they makd the playoffs.

If given the chance to sign his tender and negotiate with Carolina or sign with washington, in retrospect, I still think he signs with Washington. At the end of the day this is a business.

The franchise amount is never the starting point. They usually sign longer term for less per year than the franchise tag. Franchise tag is $14M, they will usually sign for something like 5 year/ $62.5M

I hope not, until Newton changes his tune, I want him to fail like Tebow.

He tried to get Carolina to put the tender back on the table, they refused. He left and signed with Washington. So, he still wanted to sign with Carolina even for the franchise tag more than signing a long term deal with Washington.

He wanted to sign the tender after they rescinded it, not after the skins offer, big difference.

That is stupid. You can't undo what is done. He would have signed it PERIOD. Carolina said no, so he signed with the Foreskins.

Don't bother

Norman messed up by wanting market value is the story and he's sticking to it

Yeah, the poster must be young because no matter what Norman says he benefitted from the Panthers releasing him. So he could have played for 14million for 1 year in Carolina and risked injury or play for the skins for a guaranteed 50 million, its a no brainer.

So you're saying that Norman would, today, sign the tender if he had it and the skins offer on the table in front of him?

How the **** should I know? Do you? Hell no. *** is with this type of question? I don't deal in speculation. I deal in facts and the fact is, he intended to sign the damn tender, but Carolina said no. Those are the facts, PEROID.

I don't you guys. You want to argue the stupidist crap in the world. The facts are against you, yet you seem to think your broke-*** thinking and speculation somehow overturn facts. They don't.

Why are you getting so emotional? Bottom line is the panthers gm made a decision, took a stand and for that Norman beniffited greatly from it.

Nope.. Agent was to blame by all reports.

Still.. Doesn't excuse the Panthers of throwing a hissy fit and not getting compensation for a player like that.

They should get at least a 3rd round comp pick according to the article.

Panther fans should be angry about this.

You don't want to resign him? Fine.

But to just let him walk and get 0 compensation for it is just horrible.

Had Dallas have done that I would've exploded.

Ego's got involved and Panthers management didn't do what was best for the franchise.

They will get a 3rd round draft pick next year.

That's hardly no compensation.
