How did he shoot himself in the foot? The GM was trying to be super cheap and thats it.

Sigh. I'm not sure why I even try. Logic isn't that difficult to use, it just seems everyone is too freaking lazy to use their freaking noggin.
  1. Josh wanted to stay in Carolina
  2. Josh didn't sign the franchise tender. (a value of about $14M)
  3. Carolina got mad and rescinded the offer.
  4. Josh rushed to sign it because "AGAIN" he wanted to stay in Carolina.
  5. Josh was too late and couldn't sign it.
  6. Josh can't play where he wanted too.
  7. Josh signs in Foreskin country where he didn't want to be.
  8. Josh has a hole in his foot.

No one does at this point. If I'm not mistaken Dez Bryant didn't either.

Wow, you don't get it do you? Maybe logic just isn't within your ability. If you want to stay and you're willing to accept the franchise tag (he was, he tried to sign it after they rescinded it) you sign the damn tag and THEN work out a deal. (that has been done many times)

Want to be there? (yes), did they make you an offer? (yes), where you willing to sign it? (yes), Did you sign it? (no), are you there? (no). Simple. You shot yourself in the foot.

I'm done explaining simple logic. If you can't absorb it, I'm no longer going to help you.

True but evidently where Norman agent was and where the Panthers were in terms of a longterm deal was not close enough for Carolina to continue on with him. It does take 2 to make a deal. What he was asking for the skins were willing to pay which I think it is foolish he is making more than Revis yet is not near as good as Revis. I like Norman would have loved to brought him to Dallas but no way would I pay out that for him

I hope he has a flaming bust of a career the rest of the way. I didn't like him before and I like him even less now that he's signed with the Skins.

I'd love it if they just paid all that money to him and he gets absolutely torched on a weekly basis.

Sounds like Josh shot himself in the foot. Good for him, now he will live in mediocrity and torment as a Foreskin.

He got paid top dollar. This was likely his last contract at 28. He's never had top dollar. He got paid. He'll be fine. I don't think he's a top tier player and I'm glad the skins overpaid. He'll be gone in 3 years.

He wasn't franchised. He never signed it. All they owned is the ability to negotiate. He would have held out and gotten his money, or been a FA next year.

I agree that you try to get compensation for the guy, but it's not always that simple.

I wonder what sort of compensatory pick(s) they'll get, that can now be traded too.

He had the non-exclusive tag, that means he could negotiate with other teams.

He didn't do this because CAR never let him know they would trade him. If they had, he could have multiple suitors lining up to make offers. The compensation is usually two 1sts but it can negotiated down.

As soon as he had a deal in place with another team he signs the tag and CAR trades him.

51m and NC is real close to DC......he is already over it

It will sting us longer as Cowboy fans, facing him twice a year

Uh he signed for much more than he would've gotten in Carolina so I think he's going to be ok.

He did. But, didn't he "want" to come back to Carolina after he got done playing hard ball?

There is a good chance his career and the "Qaum" will disappear in Wash......

I didn't say he wouldn't be okay. I just said he didn't get what he wanted which was on the table. It's like you want a Audi, but you argued until the sale on Audi was over and then you had to get a BMW (its still on sale) that is nice, but not what you really wanted. You still got a nice car, just not the one you want. (or the one that has a shot at a Super Bowl next season)

It has nothing to do with NC. It has to do with being on a Super Bowl contender I'm sure. He definitely isn't getting that in Washington.

Has Carolina released/discussed the parameters of whatever deal they offered him? They may have been trying to squeeze him for a big hometown discount.

Franchise tag. That's the deal that he refused to sign until they pulled it off the table. /caseclosed

You do realize they were negotiating a new contract before and after they tried to tag him, right?

One year at 14 million may be great, but that's obviously not what he was looking for or he would have signed it right away. /caseclosed

Yes, your orange has doors. Anything else irrelevant to what Josh wanted you want to bring up as fact that have no barring on the discussion at hand?
