Eh, Smoot says some stupid stuff sometimes too. On the other hand, I hope the Skins DO get fired up like this is the super bowl. I want them to get that fired up EVERY game.

Shouldn't be too hard to find those threads then? Why don't you post them here :)

Again, you can call yourself "God's team" for all I care. I don't think anyone will notice

You wouldn't be talking your trash if you didn't care. Or are you just trolling?

Pretending to not know the name of the Commanders board has definitely convinced people that you don't visit there - that was sharp.

Well, he's got a point. That was a dumb comment by Witten. If the Skins get up for these two games a year like it's our Super Bowl, that's 2 more games a year than as does he. So he's either giving us a compliment by saying this or saying that getting fired up for a game is stupid.

No he's simply stating a truth. With little else to look forward to, i.e. no playoff, let alone Super Bowl, what else is there but to get up for the game against a long time rival?

Being one of the top TE in the league say's a lot more about how up Witten is to play this game, it's just that he recognizes there are broader goals than beating the ever-out-of-contention Commanders.

It might be a bit forward of him to say, but tough ****; if these guys can pound each others head in they can take a little trash talk. Or are they even taking it as hard as their fans?

Why anyone would troll another teams message boards is beyond me. But then again if I was a skins fan I'd probably spend more time on opposing teams boards then I would the skins.

BTW - it shouln't be to hard to figure out if someone has registered and how many posts they have. Just like you have 1200 posts on our board in the last 2 yrs and I have 0 on yours.

That's why Witten said what he did. We are the skins and their fans supebowl and idiotic trolls like you and the rest prove it every year.

Could you point out the applicable similarities between his two quotes as it pertains to the Dallas Cowboys?

For a guy who has never won a playoff game and was one of the reasons Troy Vincent blocks a late game FG, those are some big words

The Cowboys should have no trouble over a terrible Commanders team this weekend.

But we will have trouble. There is no doubt about that in my mind. Even without this statement, which I really wish he's simply kept to himself (this is probably the only thing Witten has done since becoming a Cowboy that annoyed me), we were going to have trouble with the Skins. That is simply a fact. They always, without fail, play us as hard as they possibly can. This was always going to be a tough game and now it's only going to be worse.

Rampage;3085050 said:
i'm suprised Witten said that stupid comment. I just hope we match their intensity cause we haven't done that too much recently.

I'm with you Ramp. I wish we would too but I'm afraid we won't.

parcells316;3085055 said:
I'm almost positive Marc Colombo blew his assignment on that Vincent blocked fg.

Does it freaking matter? Who gives a flying crap about who missed an assignment in a game 3 years ago? I don't care if it was Tony Romo who missed the block. They won, we lost.

BAT;3085059 said:
Cowboys better treat it like a SuperBowl too. From here on out, every game should have that kind of importance, that kind of intensity, from players to coaches.

Agreed. They need to treat each and every game as if it's the biggest and most important of their lives.

firehawk350;3085483 said:
Have you ever considered the possibility that Dallas fans are insufferable and that's why most people hate the Cowboys and want them to lose? To shut you guys up? I routinely hear just about every fan in the league giving an honest assessment of their team at my work (Army job, so we're from all over the country) except Cowboy fans.

After every win you see them come in with full regala talking about Superbowl and America's Team and all that jazz. After a loss, the prevailing mantra is "we beat ourselves and the refs were against us". Cowboys fans absolutely refuse to admit they were beat fair and square.

Now, I realize that some (maybe even most) Cowboys fans don't fit under this category (Hostile and Woody's Girl come to mind immediately) but there's a large enough contingent of absolutely idiotic, loud and annoying Cowboys fans in most places that other NFL fans are just plain tired of hearing about it. Remember, it's not the silent majority you notice but the loud minority.

Oh shut up. Seriously. You're so full of crap. Only the Cowboys fans do that? Please. Get over yourself. Every single person can, without fail, talk about how there are fans of other teams, including your beloved Commanders, who they go to school with, work with, are friends with who do all of those exact same things.

So please don't even bring that weak argument in here. Every single fan base of every single team has fans that do that exact same thing on a weekly basis. The fact that you even tried it as an actual argument is one of the more bone-headed things I've seen on these boards.

You're too solid a poster here to make crazy posts like that.

Rampage;3085493 said:
gee if that's what you think of Witten I wonder what you think of Cooley?

Probably thinks he's the greatest of all time or something cause he's always making youtube videos with the 3rd string QB trying to make out like players are gay or something.

firehawk350;3085509 said:
So do you have to never smile, joke around or act in a non-chalant manner to be a pro? Then again, neither of us know him so it's a bit of a perception thing.

I guess youtube videos attempting to be hilarious, but failing most of the time, is really the better route.

firehawk350;3085518 said:
Well, I've been here every year for Dallas/Skins week (if you want to check)...

I'll back him on that. He's been here every time since I've joined the boards and he'll at least comeback, at some point afterwards, even if the Skins lose.

terrifNick21;3085526 said:
I have a question. Since when does Witten know what a Super Bowl is like?

lol.

I know others will be upset about that remark but I found it funny.

Ren;3085529 said:
Did you really just go there... The annual offseason champions pointing fingers at others for being homers? :lmao2:

You guys never lose it's always the refs. On Sunday half your fanbase will be blaming Zorn and Snyder and the other half will be blaming the refs. If you still had Gibbs i'm sure he'd even send some tapes to the league office just for good measure.

Don't bring this weak **** to our board please, have a good long look in the mirror the next time you're tempted to go down this road :laugh2:

Exactly. Of course there will be some excuses made or some how this particular poster will know better than anyone else how the larger majority of the Cowboys fan base does this than any other fan base or some such nonesense like that.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think he'd be the life of the party either.
I just don't think "arrogant" is the right word for him. Leave that for the TO's, Ochocinco's and Phillip Rivers of the world.
Wittens' pros significantly outweigh his cons. Pun intended...

HEY! Don't you ever take the good name of Phillip Rivers and try and make him look bad like that again. Phillip Rivers is great. :p

*Says the big time Phillip Rivers fan*

Rampage;3085553 said:
maybe because they became big rivals in the 70s and we beat them in the Superbowl in 95.....

Imagine that. :)

terrifNick21;3085564 said:
They need to change the expression then. Like I said in another post, say it's their biggest game of the season. Not "their Super Bowl" because Dallas isn't all that anyway.

Isn't the biggest game of the season, every year, the Superbowl? So if a team isn't likely to make the actual Superbowl then their biggest game, or games, that year (Usually against rivals without a doubt) becomes their Superbowl.

I don't think he should have said it, or anyone should for that matter the week leading into a game, but I don't think it's necassarily wrong in the way it's used. Biggest game, Superbowl, pretty much the same thing in my book.

I wish Dallas played that fired up every game. Every game should be their superbowl as well cause that's how you make it to, and win, the actual superbowl.

Best quote he, or anyone else involved in this team, has made in a long time. They need to keep that frame of mind as well.

Sure, in the second quote (first chronologically), Witten says that the team needs to stop thinking about higher goals and concentrate on every game. In the first quote (said this week) he alludes to the fact the the Cowboys have higher goals than this one game.

The first quote says nothing of the sort. Could you explain how you came to that conclusion?

This year, yea, totally. Give me a split over Dallas and I'll be happy with 4-12

Again though, big words by someone who hasn't had a post season victory. :)

And when was you last Super Bowl Victory?
