I don't know, Witten has struck me as an arrogant *****. Very talented, true, but just a general *****. Maybe it's a perception basis, but after he told Martellus Bennett to f- off as a rookie trying to learn, I just notice he never smiles (anybody have a picture to prove me wrong) and can't take a joke.

Really? I think he comes off as a no-nonsense pro who sets a high standard for himself and his team. He has led by example since he was a rookie playing with a jaw wired shut and continued right through last year when he played against Philly when most humans couldn't have walked with half of his injuries at the time. He's clutch with numerous game-winning catches and worked on his blocking skills to become a dominant, complete TE. His quotes are generally team-oriented and he rarely says anything that's criticized.
The Bennett thing was trying to get a space cadet to realize he needs to do his homework and not get spoon-fed everything. He explained that quote. He said he would gladly give pointers and tips to help Bennett out, but it was not his job to tell the guy where to line-up or what route to run. Witten does his homework and expects others to work hard as well.

The Skins aren't just bad. We're bad bad bad..

Which unfortunately is NOT good news for the Cowboys. When the Skins are bad, they usually beat the Cowboys. When the Cowboys are bad, they usually beat the Skins..

Cowboys better be prepared or else is going to be UGLY..

I don't know if smiling makes one arrogant or not, but here he is smiling while receiving an award for his contributions to the community - that arrogant SOB.....;)

So do you have to never smile, joke around or act in a non-chalant manner to be a pro? Then again, neither of us know him so it's a bit of a perception thing.

This game is no gimme. All that we need is to remind ourselves that our lone victory in the 1-15 season was against the Commanders, and that was the year that they won the Superbowl.

In this rivalry, nothing can be taken for granted. I expect a close game.

It sounds like you are trying really hard to keep believing the America's team stuff.

If it means that much to you, fine, the Dallas Cowboys are America's team

Happy?
Ratings, fool. Ask Fox, CBS, NBC, ESPN and NFL Network who is America's Team. Ask the advertisers who is America's Team. Ratings, fool. And for someone who doesn't care about the America's Team nickname, you sure keep talking about it.

Jesus, dude. Do you even venture into the other threads on this board? We either think we're Superbowl champs, or the 2009 Skins, depending upon whether we won or lost the game immediately before. We've got no problems turning on our QB, our coaches, our role players, or each other when we get beat fair and square.
I'm not saying there's not a broad spectrum of fans, but there's enough brash and idiotic Cowboy fans in enough places to grate on everybody's nerves.

Do you think anyone is saying those behaviors that YOU perceive are why I (or countless others) think he is a pro?

OR do you think he's generally considered a classy pro because of how he conducts himself on and off of the field - including interviews?

With so many idiot athletes out there, it's mind boggling that a fan would find fault with this one.

Look at the sheer joy on the guy's face. So I guess posing for a picture with half smile completely disproves my point. And I do applaud his work for the community though.

Do you watch his interviews? I've seen him laugh. He seems like a fairly serious guy, but not without a sense of humor.

Have you ever considered the possibility that Dallas fans are insufferable and that's why most people hate the Cowboys and want them to lose? To shut you guys up? I routinely hear just about every fan in the league giving an honest assessment of their team at my work (Army job, so we're from all over the country) except Cowboy fans.

After every win you see them come in with full regala talking about Superbowl and America's Team and all that jazz. After a loss, the prevailing mantra is "we beat ourselves and the refs were against us". Cowboys fans absolutely refuse to admit they were beat fair and square.

Now, I realize that some (maybe even most) Cowboys fans don't fit under this category (Hostile and Woody's Girl come to mind immediately) but there's a large enough contingent of absolutely idiotic, loud and annoying Cowboys fans in most places that other NFL fans are just plain tired of hearing about it. Remember, it's not the silent majority you notice but the loud minority.

Did you really just go there... The annual offseason champions pointing fingers at others for being homers? :lmao2:

You guys never lose it's always the refs. On Sunday half your fanbase will be blaming Zorn and Snyder and the other half will be blaming the refs. If you still had Gibbs i'm sure he'd even send some tapes to the league office just for good measure.

Don't bring this weak **** to our board please, have a good long look in the mirror the next time you're tempted to go down this road :laugh2:

I have a question. Since when does Witten know what a Super Bowl is like?

Oh I see...

So only people who have actually played in a Super Bowl can use that term.

Got it.

I'll never get this going to other team's boards thing. I so don't care what the 3-6 (or whatever their record is) Commanders fans have to say.

In that case, I will take a look at the interviews. I've never seen an interview with him laughing. I've never seen him happy. It doesn't really matter, I don't hate him or dislike him and there are a bunch of things he does which is commendable (I bought my brother a Witten jersey). I'm just saying that based on the very little I've seen of him on a personal level, I wouldn't want him to come hang out over my place.

Yes. Because if they haven't played in it, they don't know what it's like and saying that makes him look pretty dumb.
