Aren't players free agents when they aren't claimed on waivers? (thought i read that somewhere on here) If so, he could have had other offers.

....and every sports outlet that is an outlet didn't report it?

Who cares whether he had other options or not? He is here now and he is probably in the best place he could hope for if he wants a real shot to get on an active roster.

Oh yeah, i forgot we always get the details of every team who's' trying to sign a player. Never said it happened, i'm saying it's a possibility.

Anyways, it doesn't matter. He's here and has a chance to prove if he belongs in the league or not, on a team with a terrible d-line.

If the Rams thought he was a NFL caliber DE right now I doubt they release him, even with having a good line. There's a reason he's being signed to the practice squad and not to the 53 man. He's a reasonable gamble because we are literally risking nothing other then a few weeks of a practice squad spot which is basically nothing.

His measureables are similar to D. Lawrence and was the Player of the Year in the SEC. We gambled a 3rd on Lawrence. As for Sam, I don't even think its a gamble, its a smart move that any GM would make for a team thats in need of passrushers.

COWBOYS FLIP-FLOP AND THE SAM SENSITIVITY

Mike FisherCowboysHQ.com

IRVING - The sensitivity of the Cowboys' interest in Michael Sam motivated team owner Jerry Jones to contact multiple locker-room leaders to make them aware of the decision to give the NFL's first openly gay player a chance to win a spot on the Dallas practice squad, sources tell me.

Michael Sam did not earn a draft-worthy grade from the Dallas Cowboys personnel department as he slid to being a St. Louis Rams seventh-round pick and then was a late cut by the Rams.

But the on-field accomplishments of Sam - who is planning to be in Dallas on Wednesday and if he passes a physical could join the Cowboys' practice squad - may end up overcoming that bad grade for a team desperate for pass-rush help.

It's all a Jerry publicity stunt. The guy isn't talented enough to play in the NFL

Based on...? He shined when they put him in the game. He's a 7th rounder. No ones saying he's a spectacular prospect. But he comes into the league and gets three sacks in four games. How much more could he have proved in that amount of time? He's like every other late rounder or UFA. Just looking to catch on somewhere. If he can play, it'll be here, since our line is bad. If he can't play, then fret not, he won't be around long, just like every late rounder or UFA.

When a team is destined to go 3-13 ...they need all the attention they can to sell tickets. Jerry the Car salesman....workin it:rolleyes:

When will America wake up to the fraud JerryJones?

All he cares about is $$$$$ and how many pictures he can take with young hookers

Micheal Sam is irrelevant....His is just a ploy to sell tickets. More $$$$ in Jerry's greedy pockets

I have no problem being the debbie downer on this....and it has NOTHING to do with his preferences. This has to do with my feelings on how Jerry views this team. And with him pretty much admitting this team has no chance....Jerry has morphed into "well....we might as well make as much as we can" He openly admitted he wanted Johnny Football so he could stay relevant....well guess what....he go the consolation prize to remain "relevant". And that is my problem with this move....Jerry's desire for the Cowboys to remain relevant for things that have nothing to do with football. And as long as the man in charge views the Cowboys as an "entertainment entity" first...and a football team 2nd....we will always be battling more than just the opponents on the field.

Nothing sells tickets like an addition to the practice squad

I'd love to see the reactions if this weren't Michael Sam and instead were just "some guy" the Rams took in the 7th and eventually cut due to their existing depth, who made a pretty good showing during preseason. I doubt there'd be any debate about it.

Good for Dallas for taking a look. I'd love for Sam to come in and have a HoF career.

On that note, love how the media is criticizing teams for being gunshy about the media attention regarding Sam, when they're the ones saturating coverage with Michael Sam stories. GG ESPN

Really? Did you know he was coming for a physical before it actually happened?

No. Nobody knows anything before it happens. The media reports it just like they report everything else. What kind of question was that?

Nope. "Jerry is just doing this to sell tickets." We don't need any pass rush help at all. :D

Binary thinking at it's finest right here.
