He got an injury settlement which makes him unavailable to the Cowboys for 6 weeks plus the time period of the settlement.

When will we know that time period? I wouldn't think it could be for the entire 16 game season.

I don't think they ever release that information. I don't even know what injury he had. He was in the last preseason game with 3 minutes remaining.

If the Cowboys told him that they would like to bring him back, then it would be in his best interest to accept an injury settlement that would allow that to happen at some point during the season.

Another guy I would like to see develop and gain more strength is Boatright. Another tweener who could become effective in nickel situations as an outside rusher

Nevermind this link!

http://thesportscrave.com/nfl-officials-asked-teams-to-consider-signing-michael-sam-8358

It seems my instinct was dead on which it usually is but nevermind. Dallas signed 10 players to the practice squad all while Sam was available to them. Then a league official calls and convinces Jerry to sign him. In doing so, they cut Will Smith, a player they had graded higher in the draft and a player they obviously liked better than Sam because they signed him while Sam was available but before a league official got in Jerry's ear, just as I surmised but again nevermind.

So what?

Who cares why Jerry signed some practice squad player?

I wonder who called Jerry and told him to sign Tim Benford for the third time or why we needed another fullback?

Last year our practice squad consisted of six players:

Ray Dominguez
Lance Lewis
Ceaser Rayford
Jonathon Stewart
John Wetzel
and the immortal Tim Benford

I don't understand what your problems are with the practice squad signings? Who cares? Unless you have another reason for Sam being signed onto the practice squad?

I wonder what those might be...

I don't have any issue with Sam being signed, I was merely discussing what I thought was a fairly transparent fact. They didn't like Sam in the draft, they signed 10 players to the PS while Sam was available, and then all of a sudden they feel Sam is worth bringing in. I surmised that a league official got in Jerry's ear and convinced him to do it and now we find out that's exactly what happened. They thought Will Smith was a better football player until the league contacted Jerry. I hope Sam develops into a great player in Dallas but I do have an issue with how the whole signing went down. If they had signed him as part of the original 10, I wouldn't have a single thing to say except I hope he works out well. Having the league convince your owner to sign a particular player and cut a player your coaches and scouts think is better is not my idea of a well run franchise.

I don't know what to say? After all the idiotic things Jerry has done in the past 20 years and you are drawing the line at a practice squad player?

OK, good luck with that.

What line did I draw? I'm simply discussing the situation and voicing my displeasure of the league influencing Jerry about personell decisions. If you don't see any problems with that then good for you.
