He will sign it. but that is not the question. he will have to pay the fine for missing a couple of games. but that won't help the cowboys if they lose those first 2 games. i am going to ask again. are the cowboys winning to take that chance ?

I will just say yes, since I am the one that doesn't get it.

No, I definitely get what you are claiming -- it's not hard to get. It's just an incredibly lazy and tenuous argument.

By the same faulty logic, you could also implicate his bank teller, financial investments adviser, tax preparer, and personal accountant. It's a ridiculous stretch, especially when Condon himself has a long history of clients holding out, stretching back almost 30 years if not more. It's what he's known for. Unless you've got more compelling evidence than "it's money," then apply Occam's Razor.

We just disagree which is fine.

No, the better he plays the more he will be marketable.

His best chance to be great is to be practicing with the team and not jacking around worrying about his contract.

I agree. That's why I said he should get rid of ROC Nation.

Good luck winning games without Murray or Dez.

You are missing the point. He has to sign either a long term contract or a franchise tender before July 15th or he can't play this year. After July 15th he can't sign a long term contract until 2016. After he signs his franchise tender he can refuse to play in as many games he wants and the Cowboys can't do anything about it. They can't give him a LT contracty until 2016. He wouldn't be proving any point except that he is foolish enough to throw away almost a million dollars a game to prove a point. At which point, the Cowboys may decide to franchise him again in 2016 based on stupidity.

you already have no Murray, and are scrambling at RB.

Interesting comment. Sure the media is hyping this as a major misstep because it's the Cowboys. Overall since the day Murray left there hasn't been any kind of scrambling from the Cowboys that I have seen.

I agree with almost all of that, but I think he can still wait to sign the Franchise Tag after July 15th.

He can't sign a deal for longer than one year after that date, but he can wait until Week 10 to sign and still accrue a year's service time. He would lose money every week he sat out and wouldn't accomplish a thing.

You're right , I googled it and he doesn't have to sign the franchise tender. He just can't be signed to a long term contract after July 15. It still doesn't change much.

Call his bluff and suspend him for 2 weeks after week 1.

Just lost $2.5M, care to skip out on any more games?

Dez and his agent should know our cap situation, which is the ONLY thing keeping us from giving him a big deal right now.

I will make no excuses for his behavior if he sits. If he truly does sit, which I don't think he will, it's time to move on. You're not earning **** with your *** on the bench. The franchise tag, when signed, is guaranteed money and a lot of it. We placed the tag on him, sign the damn tag and go earn your paycheck.

Guaranteed money on a LT contract would mean more. If you were in the same spot, you would do the same. He's losing millions

They should be pushing him to play not hold out. If they are all that, then he should be able to make so much in marketing that his contract should not be that big of an issue.

Another way of looking at it: is Bryant so obsessed with breaking the bank as a testament to himself (and all the little birdies he listens to) that he's willing to alienate his teammates and potentially cost them games? Players will avoid talking about each other's "business" but I can't imagine that a large percentage of Cowboys are not wondering why a gigantic contract isn't gigantic enough for Bryant. More money for him means less money for everyone else...

That's a valid take.

And I question how far he wants to push the envelope.

Good luck winning games without Murray or Dez.

Overpaying them is what Jerry would have done in the past. If you didn't notice, Jerry's method didn't work out too well.

What we're seeing the past couple of years is the Stephen Jones method, that so far the results have been very good.
