I don't know if you don't get it or you just don't agree. Condon is the agent. ROC Nation does his marketing. Both of their interests are in the money they make off of Dez. They're bed partners. It's all intertwined because of the $$$.

Roc does not make money from his contract with the Cowboys. They would lose money if he is not playing because it would be hard to market a player that is not playing. They also likely make more if he plays with the Cowboys because they are the most marketable team.

In comparison Emmitt signed a 4yr/13.6m contract when he held out in 1993

Now Dez is insulted by a 1yr/12.8m franchise tag

Dez is coming off a 5/11.8m rookie deal. So he will make more this year than he has his whole career.

It is ego over common sense.

I don't see D Thomas crying to the media over his Franchise Tag......POOR LITTLE DEZ....wont play for $13Mil........The more DEZ opens his mouth the more I say get RID of him....... KID IS INMATURE... HERO TO ZERO...
Then you are just missing it because D Thomas is not a happy camper at all and isn't afraid to talk about it. The difference is outside of DonkeyLand no one cares if he is happy or not because he doesn't wear a Star on his helmet.

I know that they don't make money from his contract. That's obvious. But the more Dez is in the news the more $$ ROC Nation earns. Marketing 101.

No, I definitely get what you are claiming -- it's not hard to get. It's just an incredibly lazy and tenuous argument.

By the same faulty logic, you could also implicate his bank teller, financial investments adviser, tax preparer, and personal accountant. It's a ridiculous stretch, especially when Condon himself has a long history of clients holding out, stretching back almost 30 years if not more. It's what he's known for. Unless you've got more compelling evidence than "it's money," then apply Occam's Razor.

some of these non realistic comments im reading i just shake my head... dallas got the money and he is worth the $

Pay him the $$$$$ and then be forced to let tfred martin Crawford dlaw etc etc go at next contract. We would end up like Detroit....Megatron and nobody else long term

No, the better he plays the more he will be marketable.

His best chance to be great is to be practicing with the team and not jacking around worrying about his contract.

I would bet that's what's driving the Cowboys' position on this.

Every million they can save in cap space the better for the rest of the team. And if they can get Bryant signed for say $13 mil per year (on average) as opposed to $15 mil per year on average, then it's ultimately a good thing.

Bryant (Condon) has absolutely no choice. None whatsoever, regardless of what he says. He has to sign a long term contract or the franchise tender before July 15. The Cowboys know this and they have been reluctant to go to the bargaining table early, because it would just provide more time for Condon and Dez to play games and gain ground on the contract.. I think this is what is frustrating Dez. The Cowboys know they hold the upper hand and will wait and call Condons bluff because they know they have the better hand. Simply wait until the last minute and cut out all the nonsense. Go into the last week and accept the long term offer or accept the franchise tag. Simple, from the Cowboys perspective.

Dez is not going to hold out because it would be a PR nightmare for him and ROC Nation and he would be losing close to a million dollars a game along with the fact that he isn't getting to play the game he loves so much. I love Dez for his love of the game and I hope the contract negotiations don't affect his attitude toward the game. He just needs to come to grips with everything and quit listening to all those people talking in his ear that are trying to get a piece of his pie.

Yep. Dez has a certain amount of immaturity about him that I find off-putting in that it smacks of potential future issues like the club had with Ratliff and Orton.

Im amazed at the people on this board saying to let him go after 2 seasons. Amazed

According to this article (https://www.numberfire.com/nfl/news/4628/when-do-elite-wide-receivers-hit-their-primes), most elite wide receivers hit their prime between their 3rd and 6th years. And once they hit their prime, on average they maintain their elite status for 6 more seasons. I'm not even certain that Dez has even hit his prime yet with 5 seasons under his belt (although this is obviously debatable and really only possible to know a few years later in hindsight). I can see Dez playing at an elite level through at least the age of 32. He's 26 right now, and turns 27 during the season.

If we were to offer (and he were to accept) a 6 year deal this month, he'd still only be 32 during the final season of the contract. Even a 7 year deal, putting him at age 33 in his final year, would still be a fair investment. He may not be "elite" anymore by age 33, but (barring injury) Dez can still be a very good wide receiver.

We need to stop playing games and sign this man.

I am going to say this again. SOME OF YOU JUST DON'T GET IT. Dez wants to play for the cowboys. and he will play for the cowboys some time this year. it's business. and he is letting the cowboys know that if they don't give him a long term deal. they may have to see what life will be like without him for a game or two. are they willing to take the chance of going 0 and 2 in the division ? try winning those games with both Murray and Dez gone. if Dez does not play in those first two games. the cowboys will lose in my opinion.

I don't see this happening
It would only cost him huge money
I hope we get a deal done but I don't see any player blowing off a nearly million bucks to make a statement since there is nothing that could be gained from it
Maybe his agent needs to read the CBA

Yeah a real statement would be to let the team play 8 games without him and then sign the tag to play the remaining 8 or so games..

The bottom line. PAY THIS MAN THE MONEY.. and give him the long term deal he wants. cowboys have nobody to blame but themselves for this mess. should have got Dez signed last year. pay the man, and this all goes away.

And Dez has every right to do that. i don't believe he will. but it is his right. it's business. the cowboys always say it's business when they make a decision. so why can't Dez?

Have you ever paid 800,000 dollars to watch a game? I am guessing not many people have and not many people will. At least not any with any sense.

Especially since he will have already signed a contract of some sort and will just be pissing off money.

You still don't get it. for the 100th time. THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT 1 YEAR MONEY. it's the business. Dez is telling the cowboys to pay him with a long term deal. or try winning some games without him. are the cowboys willing to take that chance? i say pay the man and move on. you already have no Murray, and are scrambling at RB. don't need the same problem at WR.

He has to sign it by July 15 or he can't play next year.

He will sign it. but that is not the question. he will have to pay the fine for missing a couple of games. but that won't help the cowboys if they lose those first 2 games. i am going to ask again. are the cowboys winning to take that chance ?
