So, what was that again about Mort being on drugs, or this story being click bait, nothing more, and that it's the media being against the Cowboys once again?

Lol this chat is hilarious. The comparison to dez to Demarco. Before last season this board would have erupted at the idea of choosing Demarco over dez but now it's justified because of one year wonder ? Lol gotta love it. Pay dez and let's lock up his tenure as. Cowboy

We don't need another $100 million + contract on this team.

Let him do whatever it is he wants to do and after the season is over, he can go somewhere else.

You said Dez would accept a 10/300m deal thinking it was real.

That is beyond insulting.

They would have to cut him after 5 years for it to not be real. Dez has an ego that would not allow him to believe that they would ever cut him.

You think the other players wouldnt be affected by his absence?

Even better for me (the owner in this scenario). If Dez really wants to be a team player and loves football he would know his absence affects this team and if it's detrimental the he would blame himself. But again, the cowboys would be fine. Not saying we wouldn't miss him, but like I said, just out of damn principle I'd let him sit for the whole season if he wanted to.

One last point..................I hate to say it, but this also could be related to the Demarco Murray situation. Dez really liked "De Mo" as he always would call him and Dez even tweeted Irvin when Murray signed with the Eagles and asked Irvin "what the hell are we doing here?". My point is that when the team makes a "business decision" and lets a very popular player walk due to money, it is hard to turn around and then ask other players to take "team friendly" deals. I am just saying that Dez is probably thinking that "business decisions" cut both ways. If they would not pay Murray after their best season in forever, then Dez might be thinking "why the hell should I take less money, I am going to get mine". Dez was pretty upset Murray left, just saying.

I get that, I really do. But this is a business and that is Dez making it personal.

Can't see him sitting that big game out.

However, I do think Dez has seen the biz side of the NFL more than ever in this last year.

As much as he loves the game, I'm sure he's a bit jaded.
  • No extension leading into last year
  • Record breaking season but still no deal
  • Magical catch vs Green Bay that possibly gets us to the NFL title game or even Super Bowl....taken away by total BS
  • Then getting franchised
  • Then the team making the big business decision to let Murray walk
  • and then still no deal....

Add it up and you see that his perspective must have understandably hardened some in the last year.

I don't think Dez is dumb enough not to know there'd be hurdles when it came to his new deal. He hasn't been living under a rock since he cane into the league.

This is a LOT of money at stake, and both sides are going to try and get the best deal. That's how this always works.

I also find it highly doubtful he sits out a game. He's from, all accounts, a great teammate and that probably means something to him. You don't get where he is without a sense of pride, and i don't think he's going to spoil that putting his team at a disadvantage when he's "unhappy" about being paid 12 million or whatever the tag amount is.

So we agree then

Good catch -- I've been sick of hearing all of this non-team-friendly crap for way too long to be totally honest.

I do believe Condon is at the forefront of this stuff, though. He did the same with Breez in the past. It's hard to picture Dez being content about having to hold out -- I'm quite sure it would bother him terribly to do that. He's probably going along with it, hoping it'll bring results. Not altogether sure he'd follow it through if push came to shove, though. Let's just hope we don't have to find out the hard way.

I'm not. People turn on players quick around here.

As for Dez, I think he should get paid but it's stupid for him to sit out. Right now I'm mad at both sides for not getting a deal done. This has gone on far enough.

I hope Dez gets as much money/happiness as he can (we would all do the same in our professions) and I hope the front office gets the best deal for the team. There is nothing wrong with what either side is doing.
