ESPN: Sizing up Seattle's chances against Cowboys

Offensive mistakes in the first half (and we have been prone to them) could make a difference in a game where the Cowboys are favored. If we let Seattle hang around by committing a bunch of penalties and/or a turnover or two then this game could get quite dangerous.

I would like to see the Cowboys come out crisp, clean and focused and build a quick lead in the first half. If they can do this and play well on both sides of the ball, then perhaps our team might build some cofidence going into a tougher stretch in the schedule. We'll see.

I'm really interested to see how the Cowboys come to play sunday. If they come out, and play like they're capable of it will make me feel much better. If they come in like they don't need to try to win I will be worried. Only way to see what happens is by watching on sunday.

The hawks still don't know what the o-line will look like on sunday. Probably won't know until friday. I do know matt will play. All our recievers and running backs will play and trufant and hill will play. Kerney is still a question mark. The d-line will all be there. So for the seahawks, pass protection and the running game are my main concerns because of all the injuries that we are still dealing with on the o-line. The defense should be close to full strength though for the first time this year.

Thanks for the input. Nice to see an opposing fan that brought some facts and insight rather than smack and bravado.

I, for one, am not taking Seattle lightly in any way. The beat down they put on the Jaguars shows that they are capable of lighting things up. I think we're better than Jacksonville by a long shot, but when Seattle gets hot (particularly Hassleback), they are no joke.

Here's to a good game with no injuries for either side.

I appreciate it. We basically started the same line for the jags game that we started for the cards game. Neither team had a pass rush to speak of going into the games. We torched the jags for 41 points I think with matt having time to throw 4 td passes. But then against the cards it seemed like matt didn't have enough time to take the snap before he had guys in his face. Our o-line has zero consistency. I am sure you will know early if matt is going to have a chance to get hot or not. If he gets protection then we have a game. If not the cowboys will run away with this one pretty easily.

That right there is the key to the game. We don't necessarily need sacks, but if the Cowboys defense can pressure and hurry Hasselbeck consistantly, the Cowboys will win...and it won't be pretty for the Hawks.

The dude should have been a pro bowler the last two years. He was snubbed twice.

he won't be a Pro Bowler after Roy Williams pancakes him a couple times

I completely agree. Sacks or not, pressure is pressure. If you can get a guy to alter his throw or mess up his timing that can be just as effective as a sack. A lot of it depends on which hawks o-line shows up. The one that can block like in the jags game or the one that can't figure out who to block like in the cards game. The cards linebackers and/or safeties were constantly showing blitz in the A gaps and then running thru them untouched. The RBs were not much help and our TE spent a lot of his time helping to block on matt's blind side. It was a bad day overall for our blocking efforts.

Hopefully matt's head will be in the game. I guess his six year old daughter got hit by a dirt bike and had to have surgery. They didn't say what type of surgery or how serious the injury was but she is supposed to have a full recovery. I hope she gets better soon. Things like that would be horrible to go thru.

No running game + Banged up/inexperienced offensiveline= a one dimensional offense and two more sacks for Ware.

Cowboys win this one by 3 scores. Jerry Jones will be on the sidelines smiling and clapping like a trained monkey 5 minutes into the 3rd quarter.

Some teams have the victory formation, which is the QB kneel, to signify a victory. The Cowboys have Jerry Jones clapping on the sideline.

FWIW - I think you guys got robbed in that SB.
FWIW - It was payback for Armor-All'ing that ball.

HUH.? Sarcasm I assume?

In no way can Dallas take this Seattle team lightly, or any other team in the NFL. They need to go out, stay focused and get it done. Julius is gonna have some incentive to do well, braggin rights if you will, so he is gonna be ready.

This defense has to be ready as well.

Very possible this could be pretty close. Seattle is getting back Trufant and a couple others....plus they had the week off. They KNOW if they go to 2-5 they are done for the season. Desperate teams can never be dicounted.Their 'D is pretty solid when healthy. I see a 24-13 type game really. Could be close early into the 4th.....but I don't see a blowout...love to be wrong though.

I listened to an interview on the way to work this morning with seahawks DC Gus Bradley and he was saying that as of now they still don't know if trufant and hill will play. He was saying that he doesn't think that they will know for sure until friday. I guess it depends on how they practice this week.

Terrence Newman and Jon Kitna...

Newman: "So how do you think we'll do this week, Jon?"
Kitna: "I don't know, you're a good corner, but you're no Marcus Trufant. And that number 56 doesn't know what he's doing."

Jim mora just announced at a press conference that Walter Jones is going on the IR. They were optimstic about him playing this week but now he is one less lineman that you guys are going to have to deal with. I think his career is done.

Trufant will be playing his first football of the season. It is doubtful he's going to be all that sharp.

Wow. Prayers to the Hasselbeck family. Unfortunately, Hasselbeck's gimpy back is one good hit away from a season ender. And the Cowboys will hit him early and often.

As for Walter Jones, he should have retired last season, he has not looked the same since 2007.

It is unfortunate that Jones will probably retire now. Good pro and a nice fellow to boot.

It would not have mattered much. Ware has pretty much eaten his lunch even since his first game as a rookie.
