Actually, Fish went on to say that if Dallas loses Free and does not sign Winston, beware of at least some companyy line stuff coming out regarding parnell being the guy they liked anyway. He said, he was just reporting the guy's work in the wieght room--whcih does not mean he will be better.

In other words, you're stepping in your own dung here, TD3.

Free at guard would be even more of an epic disaster. He will get shoved into Romo every other passing play.. Huge fail...

Yeah, that one makes zero sense to me.

If they think there's something specific the guy's doing wrong that they can work on in camp so he can compete for starting snaps, I can live with that. I don't like it, but I can live with it if that's what their assessment is. Moving him to guard sounds like a fantasy for reclaiming an expensive player who underperformed badly. Especially when there's a talented OG available as a FA who's familiar with the offense and who will cost less.

Agreed.

It is not about whether he is tall in his lower or upper body and the ability to sqaut/anchor or not to me.

The problem with free is taking direction and his problem with strength. Reports are that he did not want to change things when the coaches were telling him to do some things different and although he has been on the team for some time now...chances are if he still lacks the strength as an asset it will not change anytime soon.

IMO he's been fairly negative since the draft. He not only bashed the #1 pick but sounded just like Mosley, Fitzsimmins, and other mediots with the typical Jerry bashing and conspiracy nonsense.
So if he's negative about a move the team makes, that makes him dumb?

And as for bashing Jerry, he does very, very little of that. But isn't that what your sig is doing?

When the guy says comments like Frederick can put a 3 liter bottle of soda in his navel...just does not come off as very bright. Said a few other things and yucked it up and just sounded foolish.

Whether or not he is negative or not does not make a difference to me if you do so in an intelligent way...this guy just sounds like an idiot when he is talking.

I still think Clabo was the better option.

With that said.

Winston is not a Cowboy right now.

Just because people are talking about it does not mean he will be.

We very well could roll out the season with Parnell and Free.

In that case you might be saying...there is no logical reason that Winston is not the better option. :laugh1:

I'm with you BP. I think Clabo is better all day but I guess the team sees something else.

I don't see us rolling with Parnell and Free. I don't think Free is going to take a pay cut and if that's the case, I don't see us keeping Free. IDK, it's hard to tell at this point. The other guy that nobody is really talking about it Jared Gaithers of San Diego. He's got some issues but he's really talented. I would not mind looking at him at Tackle.

A player getting bigger and stronger is pretty easy to measure. Not exactly the kind of thing you need a shill to report.

Calvin Watkins would have a 50/50 shot of getting such a story right.

You do understand I am speaking about Fish's work in toto? Right?

Gaithers is a fascinating option. Remember when many Cowboys fans wanted to trade a second to the Ravens for him?

From wiki,,, (not Winicki, and therefore much more likely to be accurate :p: )

Kansas City Chiefs

On August 11, 2011, Gaither signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was waived on November 29.
San Diego Chargers

Gaither was claimed off waivers by the San Diego Chargers on November 30, 2011. On March 14, 2012 Gaither signed a 4 year contract with Chargers.[3] At the beginning of the 2012 Gaither suffered from supposed back spasms that the physical trainers of the Chargers believed he was faking. He was not in the starting lineup, insisting on being 100 percent before returning to full duty. He lost complete and total respect by all players in the locker room, with the players exclaiming that they would not play on a team with him again. Because of his extremely poor work ethic and the hatred of his fellow players the Chargers cut him even though one of their biggest needs is at left tackle.[4] Gaither was released on March 27, 2013.

Difference between wanting to give up a draft pick for him vs getting him via FA.

Gaither is a lazy player if a FO like Blatimore gave up him why would Dallas's FO which is miles behind Baltimores even think they could turn this malcontent around.

All of this is known but at this point, he is far and away, more talented then anybody we have at OT, outside of Smith. He has starting talent but he is lazy and he needs a strong coaching staff and a strong locker room to make sure he plays. KC and San Diego had neither of those things. Do we? I think we absolutely have a strong coach in Callahan. I don't know if our locker room is strong enough but at this point, there are not a lot of other options out there.

Maybe we are serious about improving the run game'!

YEAH! Wishful thinking post of the day

Winston is likely a better zone run blocker than Clabo, but...the fact that we drafted Frederick in the first round would seem to indicate we aren't going to be doing much of that this year. Winston is definitely *not* a mauler, so I'm not sure he would be a good fit here.

I don't know about that.

I do know that Fisher wasn't exactly praising the draft.

And I know that Galloway rips Jerry because he knows that will continue to get him readers and listeners, along with knowing that Jerry always gives more access to his critics than his supporters. He's just as contrived as you feel Fisher is...just in the opposite direction.
