I think Phillips is a perfect fit for Dallas and think Turner is a perfect fit for SD. I would consider both these guys the right person at the right time for each franchise.

so the Chargers are hiring Cottrell for D coordinator and not Norv Turner? BLASPHEMY! No way the GM should be hiring assistant coaches....

Sources contend that Turner is leaning toward hiring Ted Cottrell, a long-time defensive NFL coach, to run the Chargers defense

LT was already in Norv's offense.

His numbers most likely go down this year seeing how he had 1800 rushing, 28 rushing TD's, 500 yards receiving and 3 TD's.
u do know why his numbers went down right? michael turner ring a bell? marty thought it was wise to split carries early in the season. then turner got hurt and from that point on LT was good for 3 td's a game. before that he would get 1 maybe 2 if he got lucky. with turner likely gone in FA LT could very well be over 2000 yrds this yr

lol because probowl is not a popularity contest. if ur going to use the probowl as your arguement u lost before u added the B

It's not purely a popularity contest. Even if you removed the fan voting, those same Chargers would have gone to Hawaii based on the respect of their peers and opposing coaches. Meanwhile, we sent Flo and Gurode ...

I know...because LT just did not "rock" last year.

As I said before...Rivers is the guy that norv should make the most noticeable difference in..Not LT.

LT could have Buddy Ryan as the HC and still put up huge numbers.

rivers was arguably the best qb in the league last yr. i dont know if theres going to be that much of a jump for him. imagine how stupid the giants feel about right now

I read a 2-4 days ago that if the Chargers named their HC soon, DB coach Brian Stewart planned ask to released so he could take over as DC under Phillips in Dallas. We all know Phillips has asked Chargers twice to be allowed speak to Pagano & Stewart but was refused. If it indeed Norv & Cottrell as HC & DC, will Chargers accommodate Stewart and let him come to Dallas? We might have our new DC within 2-3 days if things work out for us. As for Bowles, he would stay the secondary coach but Asst DC could also be added to his title with increased responsibilies.
Good question.

Did he finish in the top five of one OR MORE QB categories this past regular season?

IMO... a step down from Marty.

not in mine...

Turner might will do what Marty could never do with any team...he'll win in the postseason...with the corp players they have, he'll be a great hire for them...will do wonders with Rivers

The spin already begins.

I was coming back from grabbing something for lunch and ESPN radio said...

"The San Diego Chargers accomplished what the Dallas Cowboys failed to do and named Norv Turner their new Head Coach."

It is one of those rare times where I am glad we failed.:laugh2:

Did ESPN gloss over Turner's 'accomplishments' with the Commanders and Raiders? Or did they conveniently not mention any of that at all?

I never had complaints, never said he was bad...but I was not the one that said he was arguably the BEST QB in the league last year...That was your claim.

I would think the arguably best QB in the league last year could at least get one category where he was higher than 5th among his peers.

what qb had better numbers overall? some had better numbers in certain categories but i dont think anybody had better overall.

i think its debatable who was the best but the 2 first options would be brees and phillips.

You may be right, but to this point, he hasn't proven he can win in the regular season as head coach, none the less the post season. Regardless, we'll all find out eventually.
