I really would prefer they didn't get Julio

The Commanders will probably drop down and let someone else draft Smith (Minnesota or Detroit or New England) or simply draft him themselves.
Yeah, let's give up the blue chip OT (Tyron Smith) and get an extra third round pick, so we can pick Robert "Buster" or Jason Williams or James Marten.

If the Cowboys have comparable grades on Smith and let's say Costanzo and Carimi, and all 3 are available at 9, then I would make the trade but I'd want their 1st, their 3rd, AND their 2012 2nd. I'm not running a charity here.
FuzzyLumpkins;3909430 said:I have only seen 4 games worth of Smith and while he is good especially in pass protection, his play is not blue chip.
Hes too inconsistent.
I like his do not get me wrong but I could live with say Solder and another top 75 pick.
Just please not Costanzo. Orakpo, Tuck et al would eat his lunch.

He was 285 and 19 years old on film, and his film and big time upside has him worthy of a top 10 pick. The value is there at 9, and need meets value for the Cowboys. It couldn't be set up any better for the Cowboys, and time will tell if the organization sells it's soul for Patrick Peterson or an inferior OT and an extra chance to draft another "Buster" or Jason Williams.
If the Cowboys are smart, they will stay at 9 and draft Tyron Smith. Again, Smith is 20 years old, and his upside is huge. All things being equal, Smith will play at 32 during his 13th year. Smith's run blocking is exceptional, and his presence on the right side of Dallas' offensive line will open up the entire playbook and field for Felix Jones and keep Tony Romo off his back.
I'm not big on Castonzo, either. He will have problems anchoring against the bull rush early on, especially on the right side. Solder has strength issues, too and doesn't play with the wide base that Dallas likes.
Tyron Smith plays with a wide base and has the ability to sink his hips and use his leverage and strength to his advantage in pass protection. Smith has the most powerful hand punch in the draft, and his ability to mirror and recover due to his almost 37 inch arms helps set him apart. Smith's second level run blocking is elite, and I've seen him pancake guys on the line.
Picking where the Rams pick is a bad place to be, and that is why they want out, so they can get one of the blue chip players they want.
If Dallas doesn't sell their soul for Peterson (a CB), I think they will draft Tyron Smith at 9. Smith is certainly one of the very best players in this draft, no matter what you call it.

We've seen what the carpet-bombing effect can produce. Whole bunch of a guys you have to cut later.
Bundle up and get a guy you think is a star.

If we think Smith is going to be a great tackle then pull the trigger. I'm down to trade up and get Peterson too, I hope we aren't picking in the top 10 for a long time so take advantage of this opportunity.

That WR would help for sure. In their case, I agree.Hoofbite;3909534 said:I don't think it would be. Unless they absolutely nail the pick, a 3rd rounder isn't going to make them any better.
However, if they snag a top flight WR they will be better next year and moving forward.
Moving up to a get a WR would be a much better move than sitting still, missing out on the WRs and having an extra body.

But WR really is a position were some gems are often found in the 3rd round or later:.
Think Brandon Marshall, Mike Wallace, Marques Colston, Johnny Knox, Mike Williams, Jacoby Ford..
not to mention all of the other position players.
Drafts are made, imo, by the success of your middle round picks.
