^I think it would be stupid of Holland to field a strong team, it's a completely useless game for them. I'd rest my big players to avoid injury, eliminating France and Italy would just be an added bonus.

Ask yourself one question.

If you were Holland, and had to play either Italy or Romania in the final which would you choose?

Holland can knock out both Italy & France, without harming themselves at all by losing to Romania.

I'm not suggesting for a minute that they will deliberately throw the game, but I'm not sure that they will be 100% focussed on the game

Sadly...I totally agree with you. IMO there is no chance to see other scenario, and again, like 4 years ago, my Italy will be condemned by this kind of jokes...other then by itself

Well, they did manage to win a pretty important tournament in between the last UEFA Cup and this one.

I think it can be no bad at all ...I don't like how have played Gattuso and even Pirlo is not at their level IMO. I think we'll have De Rossi, Ambrosini, Aquilani at midfield.
And I hope that even Perrotta will not be in the starting 11, cause is totally out of condition

well, trezeguet did have 2 goals in 2 games in qualifying. he'd definitely be better than anelka.

yeah, the vieira situation hurt. Flamini had a great season at Arsenal.

thuram - old
abidal at CB? - sucks
gallas - only decent player in the back line.

Back line should be: Sagna, Gallas, Mexes, Clichy
midfield - ribery - flamini - nasri - ben arfa/evra (evra can play the wing too)

up front - henry, benzema/trezeguet

If I remember correctly, and I did watch most of the France games in qualifying, Trezeguet scored only against Faroe Islands.

Anelka did quite well in qualifying, scoring the winner in Lithuania, against Ukraine, Faroe Islands etc

Sigh, the only thing worse than France not advancing is the fact Italy did.
