Ozzie knew that the type of locker room he had wouldn't tolerate TO's antics. He would have been an idiot not to recognize that and if you don't think that had something to do with him wanting to acquire TO then you are likely not very smart.

Or perhaps he knew TO was a great player and he didn't believe the tripe that the media spews because they have no clue.

or that a structure in the lockerroom was already in place, to withstand his antics

I see. So certain locker rooms are "strong" enough to withstand his antics. He's got that power. Whatever.

so what kind of culture would you say the Ravens have?

I would say it's built on blue-collar players, dominating defense and winning

yeah, they had a 5-11 season, but it didnt' take 2 more of them, and a HOF coach to finally turn it around

they're in the AFC Championship game with a rookie HC and a QB for crying out loud

I would agree about what they're built about.

It took them 4-12, 6-9-1, 6-10, and 8-8, before they went 12-4 and won the SB in 2000 and turned it around.

Over the past 5 years, the Baltimore Ravens have a 44-36 record, making the playoffs twice. (One was a one and done, and then this year they've done a great job)

Our record over the past 5 years is 46-34, making the playoffs twice. Of course we all know we lost our two games.

Look, they clearly did a better job than we did this year. But just because we had a bad year, and they're still playing, doesnt mean that we're suddenly the Lions franchise, and the Ravens are...well, OUR storied franchise.

there are impressionable youngsters in every roster

if the leader is an incorrigible personality, you don't think they are going to take note on how to react from him?

our storied franchise has nothing to do with this Cowboy's version

try to differentiate between the 2

I'm not saying we're the Lions, but we're drifting around just as aimlessly

Every locker room in the NFL has guys goofing off. The ones that goof off and win are playing loose. The ones that goof off and lose aren't focussing enough. Meanwhile, dominoes causes us to go out and give up sacks/fumbles. Got it.

No. Not concentrating and/or caring makes us suck and it makes players focus on dominoes rather than their jobs. Those are both symptoms of the wrong attitude.

Geez, for someone who talks about causal relationships, you sure don't understand the construct very well.

What good is a wide receiver if the garbage QB can't get it to you?

Yeah, I'm sure he wouldn't, seeing that Ray was involved in a shooting where someone died.

Please. You guys have no idea what goes on in NFL locker rooms.
You're making yoursel look real foolish right now. Take a seat.

TO is a great player -- but it isn't media reports that got him in trouble back then. It was what HE SAID and what HE DID.

The reality is this. Back in 2004 there was nowhere near the level of TO coverage. He made the stories with his ridiculous comments about Jeff Garcia. He was a problem in SF and that problem was never overblown.

He'd blend in nicely. Get ready for the "You can't have two explosive personalities in the locker room" counter-argument.

What does this have to do with anything?

Ozzie was still willing enough to trade for him despite all of the commotion he caused prior to going to the Eagles. It was between the Ravens and Baltimore, and TO didn't want to go to the latter because of their QB situation and the overall state of the team. The fact is, the media created this "trouble maker" personality. They gave him the platform to express himself, and he just went with it. Little did he know that they would turn on him post Eagles because of the infatuation the media has with their "choir boy" McNabb.

Right.

The feud with Garcia was something the media made up. You are simply projecting 2008 onto 2002-2003. That is something that even TO has discussed as a bad period for him.

That wasn't Ed Werder reporting on what he heard. It was stuff straight (pun intended) out of TO's mouth.

And you're missing the point. Ozzie is being praised for being such a great GM, yet he still wanted TO despite his antics in the media, which were sensationalized, because he knew, despite his negatives, his positives far outweighed them and couldn't destroy a locker room as the media now wants us to believe.

His argument is simple but correct.

His argument simple and wrong, based on a wide receiver helping the team despite having what he described as a garbage QB, and the myth of the "enforcer" Ray Lewis.

what you fail to get is that the roster was strong enough to withstand any negatives that come with TO

So the Eagles weren't strong enough to withstand the force of TO? One that got to two or three straight NFC championship games prior to his arrival. The force is strong in this one, young Jedi. LOL.

they probably could, but the Eagles aren't known for shelling out huge contracts, and TO wanted one

I'm sure Ozzie Newsome is a smarter than just saying, "oh, TO is a great WR, let's add him! whatever the cost! yippee!"

I co-signed this purchase weeks ago. I just thought I would co-sign again just for good measure.
