it just gets old to see people tear down any positive move cause while they don't view it to be "enough" it's more than they'll ever do.

I can't speak for everyone but I was speculating on the motives behind the gesture. I stand by my thought that his agent is a genius. It's too bad that some are easily offended by speculation.

i can take care of myself. : ) but before we go on an internet tough guy rampage, i've never known a stooges slap to be a "real" slap - so please take it in the context of which if was meant.

As can I. I've never been one to start fights. However, I have always been good at finishing them. A stooge slap would receive as nice reciprocal stooge slap. I'm no curly. Of course, that's in the context of which it was meant.

Here's your internet tough guy.

too bad someone has to go "gold digging" for the bad vs. appreciate the good.

i stand by my own as well.

if you look for the bad, you'll see it. you ever look for the good in someone too?

Yep. I see a lotta good in Terrell. Wanna talk about that? :D

sure. cause before TO got here, i hated him with a hatred demons surrounded by hellfire envy'd.

but i sat back and watched him on his own terms with YET ANOTHER chance. yea there was controversy, but it wasn't "equal" controversy, it was TO myth-generated crap that the media had to overplay on slow days. TO's no saint and he needs to learn to shut up at times, but he's not worth all the demon hate.

we'll save that for vick and his "ploys".

Well, you can address some of the other "speculators" with that line of thought. I put my thoughts out in the open and there's definitely no hatred for Vick from here. I actually like the guy. I was speculating simply on the brilliance of his agent for coming up with such a great diversionary tactic. If that offends folks then oh well.

I agree with you about Terrell. He brings a lot of the static he gets on himself but the guy is an A+ talent and he appears to be playing good boy while wearing the star. If that means our chances of getting another Lombardi are heightened with him here then I am all for having him. I have a feeling the media won't have much to talk about this year outside of the outrageous stats he racks up.

well i can't say that there's NO POSSIBILITY that vick is doing a PR stunt. sure he could be. but like i said - if you want to see the bad you'll find - there or not.

it does sound like (i hope) you also see the "good" that someone like him can do - even if "PR" related. sometimes he just can't win and i think he knows that. but it's good to see him try anyway.

My issue with the " he could've done more" crowd is: Have you done anything?
that's exactly what I thought.

Anyway it's not like he's feeding these people for life. He's just helping out so they don't have to suffer needlessly because they can't afford plane tickets or something. I doubt many of the families need much help being as they could afford VT anyway. It's a thoughtful gesture to help a community he's a part of. More people should do that sort of thing.

Yeah, all you Vick supporters are right. He didn't have to do anything. The $10,000 was a a solid gesture.

But...

Then again, he didn't need to buy these cars either.

Michael Vick - Rides to Match His Success

Star quarterback Michael Vick's personal fleet has grown to include a bevy of exclusive cars and SUVs. Rattling them off with joy, he says, "I've got the Bentley Flying Spur(msrp - $170,000), the Bentley Coupe (msrp - $170,000), a Benz 500 (msrp - $56,000) and a 2006 Navigator (msrp - $55,000)." Happy to share his passion, Vick also states that his mom now has more cars than he does, including a Chrysler 300 and a Cadillac XLR convertible.

And that was from 2006.

----------------

So to all the people bashing me for original comments. Calm down, my thoughts weren't to bash the guy for being the worst person on the planet because he only gave $10,000, but in reality I think he could have offered something more. A recent trend among high rolling athletes has been to pay for the cost of the funerals. Maybe Vick and some other alumni can get together and pay for the burial services.

so that means you give away most of your income?

Yeah. It's always good to see one person help another regardless of the motives behind it. There may or may not be any motives behind the gesture but I am here to speculate on that which raised my eyebrow initially.

This thread is making me ashamed to be human.

On one hand you have an arrogant by the bootstraps sort who would rather pass out work applications to those in need rather than do what Jesus did, and that was to pass out food and not judge.

On the other the cynical ones who say it's a publicity stunt.

I think there is a middle ground but the former makes me think there is a lot of plain vindictiveness and pettiness in this world.

Good for VA Tech.

Color me unimpressed by the amount he gave.

If that makes me bad or sick or whatever...so be it.

That's his weed money for the week. He could have done a little better than $10,000 in my opinion. The man signed a contract which guaranteed him $37 mil in bonuses and will pay him $130 mil if he fulfills the entire deal.

True, but it's something. He's to be commended for that.

i am thinking the glorification of meager efforts is a questionable endevour, but ot each his own!

just offering some perspective

Who are we to say what meager is? I'm not the biggest Vick fan, but who's to say it wasn't put out there to show that he cares, and maybe to implore other VT athlete alums to do the same. Stop overanalyzing it.

And if he would have donated $10 Million you would have said he should have donated more. He would have had to of donated his entire NFL earnings for some to be satisfied .
