Actually, the illustration was irrelevant from the time it was posted. It was a sarcastic remarks that was thrown out at people because of their beliefs. People that call themselves christians should not be singled out like you were doing. This is a Football message board, religion should not have been brought in this discussion to begin with. JMHO

neither should someone be questioning the morality of someone's generosity.

but wow - it was done anyway.

I agree with you man. If you'll look at my posts, I defended Vick. I thought it was a very nice gesture.

If I could have thought up a similar illustration involving Buddha, I would have tried to use that as well. As it is, I am christian, so this was the only one I was familiar with.

Judging a person's intent without any qualifications for such is not "christian", or emulating Christ.

never mind the rest. ;)

I understood your point from the beginning. I actually agree with most of what you were saying and respect your opinion. I wasn't trying to be argumentative, I just thought you were judging "them" just like they were judging Vick. Because a wise poster once said.

I don't really see where I passed any judgement. It's not like I'm reading some unchristian statements into their statements. They're right there in black and white. If you're criticizing Vick, you've demonstrated what your heart thinks. No judgement necessary for something in plain print.

I did go back and read however, and realize that I really shouldn't have brought religion into it at all. I was getting too aggravated by the shallowness and snobbishness of some posters. But what I said was totally out of place here.

My bad. :eek::

Some think what he gave was enough and some feel that what he gave was not enough, ... he could have not given at all, and he could have given more, ... he did give though, what is wrong with that ?

I don't think giving to others will ever go out of style.

This is one of the best posts ever.

You made a statement earlier about people saying what is in their heart. As someone that considers himself a christian, you said what was in your heart.
As far as religion not being inserted on a football message board, I was wrong. But it's not always what is said, sometimes it's HOW it's said. So it wasn't totally out of place. IMO

He could have made the donation silently, no one forced him to open his piehole and tell the world he gave $10,000.00.

Correct.

it does make you want to line up the whiners and just do a 3-stooges slap across all their faces at once.

someone tries to help -there's an ulterior motive to it.
someone wants to make it better than it was - it's not enough.

the saddest part is that those who whine and call it into question the most are the one who DO NOTHING when *something* needs to be done.

well, nothing but whine and set the human race back a few generations in stupidity.

The slap had better be very hard. I slap back.

A lot of foundations issue press releases upon big donations to encourage more giving. What's it going to take for you to understand that?

And my math may be a tiny bit fuzzy, so please point out any flaws in my equation...but I'm pretty sure the $10,000 is roughly $10,000 more than anybody on the Cowboys gave. And about $10,000 more than anybody on this board gave. I'm no math major, though.

Let me clarify for the lemmings. No one is "ragging on" Vick. I, personally, was simply speculating on the motives behind his moves. Last I knew this was a message board where such speculation is welcomed. Perhaps I stepped off into the east block or something.

The grand question, for those that just can't stand that someone actually speculates on what could be the most brilliant move ever by a sports agent:

Has ronnie motivated you to donate?

There are actually plenty of people ragging. And don't give me that BS about 'merely speculating.' It's criticism, plain and simple, no matter which term you choose to do it under the guise of.

And no, it hasn't motivated me to donate - but it also hasn't motivated me to say anything in the least bit critical about it. "Speculative" or otherwise.

i can take care of myself. : ) but before we go on an internet tough guy rampage, i've never known a stooges slap to be a "real" slap - so please take it in the context of which if was meant.

it just gets old to see people tear down any positive move cause while they don't view it to be "enough" it's more than they'll ever do.
