Ezekiel Elliott Signs With Patriots

Fatty couldn't stay in shape when he was making 18 million per year. I can only imagine what he will look like making 4 million per year. His career is over. We are watching the last pathetic moments unfold.

Motivation can't fix what's wrong with Zeke. Motivation was never his problem.
Not being asked to pass block 280-320 pound men 15-20 times a game will do wonders for him. Also not being required to run 99% of his totes right up the gut from a standstill shotgun handoff should help as well. Moore's offense is what broke Zeke's body. Or should I say his stupid play calling.

Week 4 will be fun. I think Zeke gets the last laugh. Js.
It will be fun indeed.. But I don't think Zeke goes off against THIS defense. This defense has horses up front and speed on the edges. The only teams that give the Cowboys trouble in the run game are those who can move people off the ball. I don't know if the Pats have that kind of line. We shall see. I know I will cringe every time one of our 2nd and 3rd level guys have to tackle him.. because I know they're going to get up slowly and 4-5 of them will need to be helped off the field. That dude brings a load to tacklers.

I forget what Zeke's cap hit would have been had the Cowboys kept him. I think around 15M. He's not the best RB on the team. Some would argue not the second best. No one in their right mind would keep a RB under those conditions. For 6M? yeah, maybe.
The only way not releasing him would’ve made sense is on a greatly restructured contract that lowered that cap hit. That could’ve been done using what he got from the Pats (3/6). But why would Zeke have agreed to that here. It would had to have been more or better here, otherwise, it’s a 1-sided deal where only the team benefits.

LOL that is a pretty crazy take on the Zeke contract. Dude made crazy bank while his production and efficiency crashed to pathetic lows. The only one who was benefitting was fat Zeke until the team could finally get out from under that deal without too much damage. If you think his release was unfair you are crazy.

In my opinion they did. Zeke is now in a good spot with a team that wants him. He is highly motivated to prove you wrong.

Officially signing with the Pats today, then flying with the team later today to joint practices in Green Bay. No word on if Zeke will play in the preseason game on Saturday, but he will be on the grass for the joint practices on Wednesday and Thursday.
Dallas fans don’t hate Zeke nor did Dallas fans really want him gone.

They literally wanted him in the role he is going to fill in New England. 3rd down guy, pass blocking and goal line situations for about $3-4 million.

Nowhere near worth $18 million.

win for both parties. Dallas gets Cap and Pollard is the guy. Zeke goes to a good situation and a good payday

I agree. That's up to him. It all depends on what he feels is better for him. But I get the feeling some players choose to sacrifice for either more money or pride/ego. Did Zeke really prefer to go to NE?

I took a pay cut at my job from 85k a year to 60k a year due to a better situation. I did that because it didn't hurt me in any way. And I'm not a multi millionaire. Yet I'm not willing to sacrifice for a few extra bucks. But I think some of these players that are already rich can't put their pride aside.

Just as an example. No way I go to Buffalo because they are paying me more. If I'm already rich I go where I want. I live in a place that makes me the happiest.

You’re talking about the past. I’m talking about the present and going forward. What something cost when it’s bought has little bearing on what it’s value is today.

And where did I say releasing him was unfair? It was the only thing that was going to happen. Zeke would have never have done a deal on the order of what was done with the Patriots here. Had he, where’s the added value to Zeke? Any deal has to benefit both sides.

He wasn't close to being worth the $18M he was going to get this year. The Cowboys had no choice. Zeke wouldn't redo his deal. He knew then his fate was sealed. It's just the business side of pro football. This Cowboys released him but this was all on Zeke because he could have prevented it from happening.
:hammer: :hammer:

Still paying dead cap for Zeke.

If a player in Elliot's situation signs with another team, doesn't that reduce by that amount what the original team owes him?

If so, that seems to cover most of what the team gave to Martin in a salary bump.
