Get it through your head. Hardy was neither a good player for us nor was he working hard or even trying.

Anyone who wants to reward that has no business criticizing the F.O.

Lol this same F.O. seems to be sticking with McClain, and he is everything you just used to describe Hardy. Hardy also was second in sacks after missing a year of football, and where did you get he wasnt trying?

All the top free agent backups resigned with their teams or signed for too much money. No in free agency.

In the draft the top two QBs were selected before Dallas's selection. Dallas could of given away this years draft and next years to get a QB that would not make any difference if Romo got injured. And they tried to get Lynch, but failed. Lynch also would not make a difference if Romo went down.

Last year Dallas had what were considered good backups in Weeden and Cassel, but when Romo went down, so did Dallas.

So if Romo gets injured the only difference the Dallas front office could have made during the off season was to over pay for a backup QB(Matt Moore, Colt McCoy, or Chase Daniels) not knowing if the results would be different than 2015.

I'm not going to kill the front office for believing in Kellen Moore and drafting Dak Prescott.

So your saying.....this team isn't capable of finding a backup QB, and if Romo were to be injured...the results would be the same. you proved my point.

I truly believe the front office has failed us this offseason...here's my reasons.

1. Jason Garrett and his staff got a free pass for last years debacle. its totally inexcusable that this staff could not win without Romo. and whoever the genius was that decided we needed to trade for Cassel is an idiot.
2. The single most glaring need was a decent vet qb after last seasons disgrace, even S.Jones said after the season that backup QB would be a top priority. No action has been taken. None whatsoever!!
3. Free Agency - was a big strike out, we netted nothing other than maybe Thornton to replace Hayden. Mayowa was also signed when the Raiders decided to not to match our offer. Morris was signed also, but was he really needed?
4. The Draft - 1st off Elliott, I like the pick, I don't mind the pick, but in all fairness, we probably should've traded down and tried to maximize that pick, we just have to many needs not too mention we need depth just about everywhere other than OL. The Smith pick was a disaster, one can hope he recovers, just too risky of a pick for us with the current roster we have. i can stomach the rest of the draft.
5. RoMac - why do we continue to put up with this guys crap?
6. Greg Hardy - It amazes me that we continue to turn our back on him, he can be signed to a team friendly one year deal and INSTANTLY be our best DL. It should be a no-brainer since both of our starting DE's are suspended for the first 4 games.

those are just a few thoughts off the top of my head...i am still optimistic about this season, but truthfully a lot of things will have to go our way...with the #1 thing being if this team can stay relatively healthy.
1.trade for Cassel..... this was not JG, probably the jones boys , JG wanted to stay with weedon
Jason Garrett and his staff got a free pass .......they will continue to get a pass, no matter what they do this year or next.
2.decent vet qb...... there are not many that are worth what they would have to pay for them.
and it doesnt matter if JG and linehan continue to run the same offense, and cant adapt to another QB
I think Aaron Rodgers would struggle in JG's offense.
The jones boys are gambling that tony makes it thru season and plays at least 14 games.
Moore can be a decent bkup, last year he did not go thru TC, and did not play in pre season, so he has to benefit
From a full offseason, and all the camps, and we should see him in PS and can judge him from that.
3.Free Agency - was a big strike out....... not really , cedric at DT could make a big difference, the other guys in FA
were probably not worth what they were paid. However it does look like they should have got a vet LB.
Also after paying dez, and the OL coming soon, dallas could not afford any big contracts for FA.
4. The Draft - I liked the elliot pick , but not the Jaylon pick
5.RoMac -well he is cheap, and now he is really cheap, he loses over half of what he would have made this year, and it
goes back to the cap, so it isnt costing dallas any money right now, if they keep him , they only pay for the last 6 games,
and he will be fresh at game 11 so this could be a good thing. Had he played from start he would be wore out by game 10.
6.Greg Hardy - I have to agree with you here, I dont know what he would sign for, so money might be a factor, but if they could
get him back for around 500,000 a game they should have done it.
I think he would have been much better this year.
I do think the coaches and JG were the ones saying dont resign him. The incident with ST coach is a big reason they
didnt want him back. JG didnt want Hardy, and couldnt handle him.
7.overall it wasnt a bad offseason, or draft, dallas has enough talent, it just depends on how the coaches utilize it.
This season is all on the coaches, I doubt our passing offense changes, they will just run more, going back to the
2014 formula.
The main problem is still protecting tony from the guys who come free thru the gaps, our coaches seem to have
no answer to that.

Another huge factor is losing Dez. Weeden took a complete nosedive but was considered a good backup at a great salary at this time last year. Weeden going into automatic checkdowns is bad, but doing it throwing to TWill and Street had as much to do with the W-L record as Romo going down.

If you played the season over again and it was Moore throwing to Dez and a healthy WR corp, we win 7 or 8 games instead of 4.

It doesnt matter if they got a vet bkup, the result would still be the same as 2015, they had 2 vet qb's who are decent,
they both have jobs with houston, and Tenn.
It was a coaching and offense issue not a QB issue.

JG has been riding Romo since he got here, and without Romo him and his offense is exposed for what it is.
They would have to get rid of JG for that to change, and that isnt going to happen anytime soon.

So it is best to just hope the 2014 formula will work again with elliot.

I will say that if any team loses their longtime starting QB for 6-10 games or more, they wont have a good season.
They may win more games, but still a 8-8 season or worse.
It is rare to have a good bkup and good coaches who can win almost as many games as they did with a starting QB, it
happens, but it is rare.

The key is protecting romo, and our coaches seem clueless on how to do that .

This off season?

I forgot to mention...that all they have been worried about is that new practice facility. I've seen more energy and effort towards that then actually trying to improve the team.

It's not about the charges. A lot of players accused of DV are still playing.

It's because he's a terrible teammate.

He was a terrible teammate when the team was losing every game. I suspect he'd be a better teammate with a healthy Romo. Winning cures a lot of ills.

Dont reward it. But sign him to a deal that pays for performance. And if he's a slacker and cancer after 4 games when D Law and Gregory return, cut him. We've already taken the PR hit, so what is the downside?

This is a reasonable argument. I do agree some team will take a chance on him. Pass rush is too hard a commodity to find, he'll get another chance. Probably not here though. Cheatriots perhaps.

what proof do you have that he was a terrible teammate? I'll tell you who a terrible teammate is...One who fails drug tests.

The constant twitter rants, the sideline altercations, the undermining of his head coach, rumors that he was out drinking and non existent at practice once the pictures leaked.

There is also supposedly a lot of information out there that has not even leaked out regarding his behavior last season. I would assume that word travels fast around NFL circles. I am sure teams have been interested and inquired with people inside Carolina and Dallas headquarters but he is still available.

I don't hate the guy, I would't mind if he came back but acting like he was a model citizen last season is over the top. He was in a perfect situation to rebrand himself last season. He could've spoke out against DV, kept out of the news and been a model citizen but instead he played the innocent and "me against the world" card on social media and completely disregarded the image that he sent to his team and coach. Before he even took a snap, he was in the news for comments on the world trade center and Brady's wife. Sure, he was kidding but he was in no position to be kidding.

Greg Hardy could've been the top paid defender in the league right now if he played his cards right last season but his immaturity did him in.

Then you haven't been paying attention. We signed guys almost every day for a while. Resigned our own guys. Worked a pretty good draft. If you visit the CowboysZone every day you would see that ha-ha.

I think this gets overstated because no information has come out either way on who was targeted and what the demands of the possible player were. Its bad business and negotiation to just pay a player whatever they want just because it is a need position. If you look at what the money is for decent backup QBs, I am glad the FO didn't go after one.
