Do you really think that Moore is better than any other option available? The quality of the QBs available may be bad, but let's be honest, Moore is far from being as good as most team's backups.

Moore may not be the answer, but who is available that is better and willing to sit behind Romo? Everyone loves to complain we don't have a better backup, but they never explain who or how they would find one. They figure Jerry can make a trade like in the Manning video game or something.

I still have yet to see all these folks come up with a better solution. All they can do is complain, and get mad if they get confronted.

Funny how that works isn't it?

I see those alternatives then picked apart and downplayed in an effort to support what the team ultimately did.

Insert 'Quarterback X' name here and all you'll get is "he never would have signed here" or "he's no better than Moore".

And when you already know the end result, it's not worth making the effort anymore.

I truly believe the front office has failed us this offseason...here's my reasons.

1. Jason Garrett and his staff got a free pass for last years debacle. its totally inexcusable that this staff could not win without Romo. and whoever the genius was that decided we needed to trade for Cassel is an idiot.
2. The single most glaring need was a decent vet qb after last seasons disgrace, even S.Jones said after the season that backup QB would be a top priority. No action has been taken. None whatsoever!!
3. Free Agency - was a big strike out, we netted nothing other than maybe Thornton to replace Hayden. Mayowa was also signed when the Raiders decided to not to match our offer. Morris was signed also, but was he really needed?
4. The Draft - 1st off Elliott, I like the pick, I don't mind the pick, but in all fairness, we probably should've traded down and tried to maximize that pick, we just have to many needs not too mention we need depth just about everywhere other than OL. The Smith pick was a disaster, one can hope he recovers, just too risky of a pick for us with the current roster we have. i can stomach the rest of the draft.
5. RoMac - why do we continue to put up with this guys crap?
6. Greg Hardy - It amazes me that we continue to turn our back on him, he can be signed to a team friendly one year deal and INSTANTLY be our best DL. It should be a no-brainer since both of our starting DE's are suspended for the first 4 games.

those are just a few thoughts off the top of my head...i am still optimistic about this season, but truthfully a lot of things will have to go our way...with the #1 thing being if this team can stay relatively healthy.

This team likes moore. He played pretty good in his first time. He understands the offense. And you could tell when he played last yr. Who are you to question Linehan? And if im not mistaken they tried to draft 2 guys in the first 2 rounds. They got their 3rd guy in rd 4. Just because they didint do what you wanted doesnt mean they didnt do "anything".

Does this team spend in FA anymore? Ask yourself this question a few times in your head.

Maximize the pick by trading down? So take a lesser player and hope on later picks? With the QB, OL in place this team has they maximized the hell out of the 4th overal pick by drafting Elliot.

Hardy burned his bridge.

let me spell this out for you....Moore is G A R B A G E ok? that's my opinion, i don't care what anyone in the organization is trying to sell.

Yes....with all the holes and suspensions on the DL, we could've been better served to trade down and maximize our 1st round pick, that would've been the smarter approach, but we chose Elliott, which i said i'm ok with providing he lives up to the hype.

as for Hardy, he is and would be the best DL on our roster if signed today. what ever the disagreements were, they can sit down and work it out. again jmo

This would have been his 4th season and he's played in exactly 2 games and stunk it up. I don't know how you can say we played "pretty good".

Hopefully Dak continues to play consistently and well like last night and we will never again have to worry about the BS thought that Kellen Moore was an actual viable back up option.

The lack of addressing the holes in the middle of the defense (d line, linebacker, safety) is quite concerning.

Funny how narratives can change once they start playing football.

This has the potential to be a great offseason. Dak could have, "it." Eazy E definitely has it. Jaylon will get healthy eventually. Thornton will be productive in this defense. Morris has a chance to be a significant contributor if they don't want/need to run Zeke into the ground.

Brown in the 6th looks like a potential steal. If Mayowa, M. Collins, and Tapper become contributors, this offseason could be the best in years.

The only non-upgrade of the position groups from last season is LB but when Jaylon's nerve fires that'll be addressed. I'm excited to see this play out.

1. The Coaches get another chance after last years perfect storm of injuries, due to the strong showing in 2014. This year I don't think excuses will be tolerated.
2. Agree that veteran b/up QB should've been addressed, but the money being thrown at mediocre QB's made it difficult, We may have struck Gold with Dak.
3. We didn't have enough cap space to be aggressive in FA, with the money being lashed out on decent but not great players, that makes Me glad. The teams who overpaid will soon regret it. Thornton and Morris were decent players signed for sensible money.
4. Elliot will be great, Smith? who knows? another gamble, if Dodd didn't go just before We picked I wonder if We'd have made that pick? the rest of the draft brought some interesting athletes, maybe a couple will pan out down the road.
5. RoMac got signed to a cheap "show Me" deal, He's currently costing Us nothing, due to His suspension, if We cut Him now it costs Us money, if He can come back and help fine, if not, wave Him bye-bye.
6. Like You say, Hardy could probably be signed to a reasonable deal, the fact that the Team apparently has zero interest in doing so, makes Me think there is more to this than meets the eye, Could be locker room issues, could be private life issues.

Heck. I thought this off season the club made some progress for a change. If Prescott works out this will be a great off season.

Well if we are going to laud the front office for how some guys look in preseason, then to say that DE has been upgraded based on what we've seen is a bogus statement.

The DE position appears to not have been upgraded. In fact, they look a bit worse this preseason.

I look at the defensive line as a whole, which has more talent than last year- Thornton over Hayden and a healthy McClain are immediate upgrades. Collins should be expected to contribute as a 3rd round pick.

But as for DE's, Hardy wasn't exactly lighting it up. Mayowa could easily get what was it- 6 sacks? Mincey is gone. Russell can get 1 sack and outproduce him. Gregory did nothing last year so if he plays this year he doesn't have to do much to do more than last year. By all accounts Lawrence was giving our All Pro left tackle some problems in camp.

I think they've come a long way from Mincey, Selvie, and Hayden as starters.

But looking at it from an entire DL perspective masks the deficiency at DE.

Mayowa has been in the league for 3 years and has less than 2 sacks to his name. And you are projecting him to match Hardy?

I think you are taking a very optimistic view of the DE position. And Tapper was one guy I really liked and it appears he's got a more serious back injury than has been reported. So not only do we have a lot of questions from just a talent perspective, we have health questions at DE as well.

When teams break up into position groups, the DE's and DT's are in the same group. Saying the DE position is deficient doesn't really address whether or not it's improved on last season. It's not like this position lit it up last year.

Mayowa has been in the league for 3 years and has less than 2 sacks to his name. And you are projecting him to match Hardy?

Last year's Hardy? Sure. Why not? Did he have a great season that we all missed?

I think you are taking a very optimistic view of the DE position. And Tapper was one guy I really liked and it appears he's got a more serious back injury than has been reported. So not only do we have a lot of questions from just a talent perspective, we have health questions at DE as well.

Lawrence is still here and again, by all accounts has looked better in training camp. Jeremy Mincey gave them nothing last year. Hardy is the only player that gave them anything of note who needs to be replaced.

I think you're confusing my belief that there is more talent at the position with me saying they're more than what they are. The bar from last year is very low.

These are the week 1 2015 DE's

DeMarcus Lawrence
Jeremy Mincey
Randy Gregory
Ryan Russell
Lavar Edwards
Jack Crawford

Tapper, for example, has as many sacks as Mincey, Gregory, Russell, and Edwards combined last year.

And my point is that even if the bar was really low last year, it didn't get raised all that much this year to make me think they now have a viable pass rush from the edge. My goal wasn't to just be better on paper than last year's debacle. I was hoping the goal was actually be much better to the point they might actually be ranked in say the Top 12 of pass rush teams.

PS - yes, it's quite a stretch to suggest that Mayowa would match Hardy's production from last year. Let's note that some of the analysts, like Sturm, pointed out the effect Hardy had when not even getting sacks. It's been said that Hardy commanding double teams helped Lawrence out a lot. I don't think any team is fearful of Benson Mayowa like they were concerned with Hardy.
