On offense no one comes close to Roger Staubach. On defense Randy White, with a close second going to Bill Bates.

I’ve seen to many great players in my time as a fan to really focus on one…but if I were forced to choose, that would be Mark Tuinei, any player that gets kicked out of the pro ball is alright in my book…RIP Mark. What a great offensive lineman.

Emmitt Smith. Loved the way he played the game. So consistent.

And tell us all why.

There are many players I liked over the years. From Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman to Roger Staubach to name a few. It's obvious that Tony Romo is my favorite. My reason is this was a guy that went undrafted from Eastern Illinois. Not too many gave him a chance but somehow, someway willed his way to be the starter of the Dallas Cowboys. While he didn't win a Super Bowl , he did break many Cowboy's QB records. Enjoyed watching him play throughout the years.

Larry Allen. His level of physical domination is something I'll probably never witness again.

John Randle (Hall of fame 6x first team all-pro DT) said it best.

John: "he would pick you up and laugh at you, there was nothing I could do". "Players would come into the defensive huddle scared asking me what are they supposed to do and I would tell them just do the best you can"

I would say three are tied. Drew Pearson/Michael Irvin, and Butch Johnson.

Tony Dorsett, Randy White, Erik Williams, michael Irvin.
My all time favorite cowboys.

1 a. Everson walls
1b . Charles Haley. ( considered a cowboy ?)
Haley def up there. When I first started watching football and learning the game, I ALWAYS noticed 94. Him and Woody made me love to watch defense.

When I was 6 years old, I'll never forget saying "Drew", "Drew" and that inspired me to become a wide receiver. And all throughout my career, I wore #88, and Butch Johson was so cool doing the "California Quake" every time he scored, and of course, Mr 88 Michael Irvin in my 20s was hands down my favorite player.

Right now or back "then"? Things change when you get older. I became a Cowboys fan at the right time ('92 season) and was at the right age to get the full "in awe" experience. So for that teenage Streifenkarl it has to be Troy, Michael and Emmitt. Was a fan of Daryl Johnston and Jay Novaceck too. Back then you still had heroes.

These days it's all about the team for me. I am thankful for those players, who led us to superbowl wins and turned this franchise into a legend. But I honestly don't care for individual players anymore. As far as I am concerned, they are all replacable, even guys like Micah. There are no dystasties anymore, so every year the roster is shuffled up to a certain point. I guess Tom Brady and his Patriots were the last team with an identity.

I don't wanna make it sound grim here, I enjoy football just like I did back then. But now it's a more balanced experience with the understanding, that it's all just entertainment and no player gives a crap about the organization he plays for, when the cash man waves from another town. That's ok, but it took away the magic for me. I'd never stand in line for an autograph anymore. I have reduced my fandom to those very 60 minutes of ingame action. Everything in between is just pastime in between meetings at work or when I'm relaxing on the couch with my cell phone.

Phil pozderac. That dude could kill a drive with a holding penalty like none other... oh wait. I hated that guy.

Roger was always my favorite as a kid, didn't really understand the game back then, but he won a lot.

More recently probably moose Johnston. That dude did the dirty work cleaning the way for the greatest of all time Emmitt Smith.

I saw one full season of Roger Staubach. Saw that come back game against the Commanders in 79 to get them in the playoffs. Never got to see Lilly play.
Staubach's last season was actually one of his best. He didn't retire because he was fading. Sadly it was from multiple concussions and he was smart enough to choose to not let them keep piling up
