Now there's another great guitar player Steve Vai.
Diamond Dave found him.

I like him playing with Dave, but I kinda find his solo stuff a little boring......He was awesome in The Crossroads though. There's a movie that should be remade. It'd be so much better without Ralph Macchio. Now there's another great guitar player Steve Vai.

I stand corrected, thank you starman.Actually, Frank Zappa found Vai first.

Keith Richards is my fav. I know he's not the soloist as some others mentioned in the thread but I just love his style and sound.
For me it's "can you hear me knocking" honkey tonk woman and brown sugar. If you listen closely to the opening of brown sugar the rhythm shifts slightly each guitar riff. It's subtle but that's what makes it so greatThe opening "hook", if you will, on Gimme Shelter is one of my all-time favorites.
Neal Schon from Journey played with Santana when he was young.I like to chill with Santana sometimes.
All this and not a single reference to Stevie Ray Vaughn, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, or Joe Bonamassa.
FAIL.
The first instrument played in this is a nyckelharpa.
EVH for me. Nuno Bettencourt, is right up there as well. Kind of an underrated player I think
