"What do Voluntary mean?"

Darren Hambrick

Not really one of my favorites but how can it be left off of a thread about famous quotes on a Cowboy Board?

I just came across this quote earlier today for the first time and I absolutely love it.

I did a quick read on John Wesley, because I didn't know who he was, and it appears that he was a pretty cool and groovy fellow...lol.

Sound very Masonic.

Dredging this up because I fell in love with a quote I read today:

Work for a cause, NOT for Applause
Live life to express, NOT to impress.
Don't strive to make your presence noticed,
just make your absence felt

I like that one. Great find VC.

SUCCESS

To laugh often and to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children,
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends,
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived, this is to have succeeded.

That was Curly Bill...Tombstone.

It was Johny Ringo. Curly Bill laughed and said "Jaysus, Johnny!"

(not really Jaysus, but you get the picture)

I have used that many times when our Law Society has floated out that lawyers use "voluntary" guidelines for practice which aren't mandatory but which could be used for reviews of a lawyer's practice.

I actually said to a Law Society Bencher once, in the words of the immortal Darren Hambrick who was asked why he didn't attend a voluntary off season workout, "what do voluntary mean".

He said that after Johnny says it smells like something died. Curly Bill said "Well, bye".

“Just think, you're not here by chance, but by God's choosing you. His hand formed you, He made you the person you are.
He compares you to no one else -- you're one of a kind. You lack nothing His grace can't give you.
He has allowed you to be here at this time in history to fulfill His special purpose for this generation.”
