Velma......she's a freak :laugh2:

I hear ya. It's those virtuous librarian-looking broads who always turn out to be little firecrackers.

MASH (In the pre-VCR days, I would record these on audio tape to listen to later)
The Wire
Northern Exposure (although not so much after Rob Morrow left)
Star Trek - all versions
The West Wing

Six Feet Under was a fantastic show. Truly innovative and unique.

Haha, Greatest American Hero was a great show.

I can't believe I didn't think of Cheers and Frazier. Love both of those shows.

Battlestar Gallactica
The thing about the original Battlestar Galactica is that it was literally the Bonanza of television science fiction--pardon the pun. If ever there was an actor, who benefitted from a show that was basically created just for them, it was Lorne Green.

Don't get me wrong. It was a good show, but sometimes during an episode I could hear the Bonanza theme song playing in the back of my mind. The Colonial Warriors were dressed as cowboys (excuse that pun also)--from the jackets they wore to their sidearms. The show had too much of a Western-style series (Rawhide comes to mind) which always kept me wanted for more substance from its central plot:

"What would REALLY happen if a civilization was almost totally wiped out and the survivors were forced to find a new home?"

IMO, this is where the remake of the series succeeds and where the original series fell short. The new show digs deeper into the human element of 'What if?'. The enemy is totally ruthless and deadly cunning. The old show showcased clumsy overgrown robots in shiny tin suits. BG2 is a gritty little show and I'm going to miss it's more hard-edged dramatic vision. The final season premieres next month.

...of course, not everything about the show is hard-edged. There is Number 6 and Boomer for example... ;)

For a very good, 8-minute, fast-paced (and funny!) summary of the series thus far, check out http://video.scifi.com/player/?id=224004 .
