Report: Brett, Deanna Favre Board Vikings Plane

Reports say Brett and Deanna Favre are on a Minnesota Vikings plane headed for Minneapolis, and that the quarterback plans to sign with the team today.
WISN-TV in Milwaukee is reporting a plane with a Vikings logo on the tail left the Hattiesburg Laurel Regional Airport in Mississippi this morning, with the Favres on board.

Is his old lady negotiating the deal?

Maybe she' sick of him sitting around the house moping that he doesn't have team to play for and the season is fixing to start.

100% right. Why should it bother anyone he is coming back? If a team wants to pay him more power to him. It makes the Vikes much more interesting this year.

Oops, I agreed with you....

It's not that he's coming back. It's not that I don't like him...I do, actually.

It's the way he goes about his business. Make a damn decision and stick with it.....he's a tough SOB, but his decision making is borderline feminine. It's like he's trying to pick out what type of pumps he wants to wear with his levi's to his HOF induction...

What a shock, he's coming back after the rigors of training camp are over. Gee, stunning. ;)

I'll probably be the only happy fan in the forum. Love this, even though it makes them a tough team to beat.

I like Favre, and I'm happy for him. But he immediately makes the Vikings a contender. There seem to be several quality teams in the NFC this year, and the Cowboys will need to be very good to have any chance at a postseason appearance. A 9-7 record isn't likely to earn a playoff berth, and because the Cowboys play in the NFC East, they may need at least 11 games to make the postseason -- even as a wildcard.

The NFC is going to be super competitive this year. There is no clear cut favorite in any division much less to represent the whole NFC.

This year is going to be fun to watch.

I will never tire of watching him play the game and this stuff just doesn't bother me. I can't figure out why it should.[/quote]

i am more the "just shut up and do your job" kind of person and hate "attention whor**". favre and TO (yes, they are very similar in this regard) are the definition of that term. that is why i hope he falls flat on his face.

but that is just me :D

I know you guys love Farve and if the guy wants to play football, let him play. Sure, there is truth to that. However, his crying, I'm done, multiple retirements is embarrasing as well as most selfish. His ego is bigger than T.O.'s ever was.
The reason Favre has received all of this attention is the media .. the guy lives in the middle of nowhere and yet reporters from the major northeast markets constantly contact and follow the guy every year and the sports media discusses him non-stop for days at a time when a rumor is started by a reporter who is only speculating.

95 percent of all the media attention Favre has received and the ranting that every sports station seems to do about him only serves to shape the opinions of sports fans who seem all too willing to jump on the bandwagon of hate for a player who has not shot anyone, killed someone while DUI, been suspended due to steroids or personal conduct, etc.

Talk about egos .. the media is the only one to blame for the Favre ego myth .. does Favre have a reality TV show? Does Favre have a line of self-created tshirts featuring "iRetire" or "iBack" ?? I'll take the guy who the media has to chase and harass to get comments over the guy who brings his own media entourage everywhere he goes.

Makes perfect sense to me ..

It's not that I don't like Favre, so much as it's the undeniable fact that he's a big flapping wet douchebag attention ***** who's ridden the phony aw-shucks routine into the ground over the course of about 20 years.

Yep. Vikes break camp, Favre finally finishes wrestling with decision to return. Pure coincidence, I'm sure.

Remember all the hand-wringing about Tony getting in sync with Roy, how they needed to start in March or February to get on the same page? Not so with The Favre. He just shows up a couple weeks before the season. If the receivers don't make the catches, it won't be his fault.

I like the move also but I hope his heart is ALL the way in it. If not, this might be the first time he doesn't play 16 games.

I didn't know the Vikings had $12 mil under the cap to spare. They have a lot of highly paid players on that team.

So, if the media were to camp outside your house for the last 5 years, constantly call you or your family members asking what you were going to do, eat, etc. next and have you made a decision yet between Cable or Satellite TV and then the sports media spent hours each day for days at a time dedicated to discussing what you will or will not do and what you should or should not do, then that would mean you are desperate for attention?

I'm just asking ..

That is a very good point and one I have really not thought about.

It is what it is, and it's not going to change anytime soon. To me, complaining about this is like complaining when an actor wants more money to do a film. Whooptie do.

Look, franchises are obligated to get the best players they can find, and if they feel that Favre is better than what they have now (I think he is), then so be it. Yeah, it sucks for the other two guys, but if Jackson and Rosenfels were better players, the Vikings might not be looking.
