both are about the same size, Clinton is 5'11" 210, and Felix is 5'10" 210, both are explosive, cutback runners, Felix uses a few more, but Clinton is more of a inside runner now in Washington

Clinton Portis is not built the same as Felix.

"Bubble butt Felix" will be more productive and less injury prone.

Compare him to Westbrook.

Being a Univ. of Miami fan I wouldn't be upset at all if he turns out to be that kind of player MINUS the injuries...

Yeah I heard that too which is good, did you watch a lot of Ark? What do you think about all these moves people keep talking about? Everything on Youtube is him running 40 yards in open field, very frustrating.

I think "moves" are overrated, if by that one means a bunch of Reggie Bush-style juking and dancing...

But off the top of my head, two I can think of from that youtube highlight reel are a sweet limp-leg (which you never see anymore) on a run outside against LSU that got him about 7-10 extra yards, and the couple of cuts he made in that South Carolina TD draw up the gut.

As for Portis, good question Bob. To me, Portis runs bigger than his listed size and runs stronger than Felix. But correct me if I'm wrong, Portis dedicated himself more to squatting after Gibbs' first year and gained a lot of leg strength and size, plus some weight. I hope Felix will do the same, and I bet he does.

I still think the Thurman Thomas comparison is perfect. Not great at any one thing physically, more quicks than pure speed, but great balance, vision, and instincts. Plus deadly receiving out of the backfield.

He's definitely more shifty than McFadden. But really that's not saying a whole lot, because McFadden has almost no wiggle whatsoever.

I think that's true to an extent, but there have been times that McFadden surprised me with an extra cut or two. Prior to his junior season, he showed a bit more cutting ability than he did in 2007.

This past season, he seemed to primarily make his one cut, then put his head down and charge forward. I don't know why he did that, perhaps because of his injuries or because it often worked, but he does have some cutting ability that he showed at times and previously showed.

Now, he doesn't have near the lateral skills of Jones, but he's got some if Oakland can get him to keep his head up and not rely on trying to run through defenders.

I don't see much comparison in their game. Portis is much, much shiftier and looks faster on he field. Portis has that amazing lateral side step. Felix can change direction nicely, but I've never seen him make that lateral side-step like Portis does. But Felix does seem to run with more power than Portis.
you bash people who think Roy sucks than you bust out this gem.:laugh2:

So I take it you think that Portis is a power back? LOL! You're quite the football wizard.

I will give you this, since you're so young (13? 14?) you've probably only watched Portis for one or two years. In that past several years he's taken to bulking up his lower body, to become more powerful. He in no way shape or form, however, can be viewed as a power back.

Felix runs much more "assertive" to me than Portis, who's lighter on his feet.

since portis came to washington he's put on weight and become a tougher rb than can run with power from time to time. felix isn't much better at breaking tackles than the last jones we had at rb and he hasn't even ran against an NFL defense. this thread is stupid and your comment about felix running with more power than portis just solidifies it.

Did I say he has a "power running game?" Of course not. Your football brilliance must blind your reading ability.

If he is like Portis, great. A starter type talent as our second guy.

I don't consider Felix Jones a power runner. One thing I like about him is that nearly every time, he makes the first man miss. Many times, the first man doesn't even touch him.

That is what I am looking forward to.

Tom Ciskowski on the blitz on sunday night said the organization thinks the player felix jones most closely resembles is Charlie Garner.

If anyone didnt catch that check the media section of the cowboys web site. The blitz was pretty good sunday with ciskowski on for about 10 minutes.
