Felix Jones is now an Eagle

Expectations are low so I like the move, they're trying to catch lightning in a bottle for a former 1st round pick that didn't pane out. The Eagles aren't counting on him anyway as Felix is prob at best 3rd/4th on the depth chart.

When I scanned this really quickly, I thought it said "Felix Jones is now fragile".

Why would you say such a thing lol.

I'm scared of the NFCE. I could see us finishing 3rd again. Kiffin's Tampa 2 is susceptible to spread attacks and option reads like Philly and Washington.

I know. But it's cool when you don't know what's going to happen. I could see us being the best, or the worst team in the division. I'm skeptically PHI is going to take the NFC by storm here, but I do think Kelly's smart enough that he'll figure out how to make the transition eventually. And he could make it sooner rather than later.

The Sk*ns should be better, unless DCs catch up to what they're doing. I think they've got a legitimately good player under center, though, so I don't expect that.

The Giants are best when nobody thinks they're going to be any good. I don't like about anything I see them doing, but then, I usually don't.

And the Cowboys: people here magnify the extent of our problems. You take a 500 team with our injury list and fix the TO differential--even just get us to 0--and we're one of the better teams in the NFC suddenly. The question is, can you fix the TO differential in one season.

Just to add to this post, i would take Randle right now, as well.. just because he's much younger and RB's generally aren't as effective after a few years of punishment.

That being said, i still feel we wasted the talent of the guy by trying to "protect" him and not playing him more. Its a sport.. you use the guy while you have him and when he stops being effective or he can't play anymore you replace him. That's how its supposed to work, not "oh, we'll give him 5 carries a game that way we'll have him on the team for 20 years."

A bit of an exaggeration, but that certainly seems to be the mindset the Cowboys had with him. Mismangement of players has become a staple under this regime.

I agree with this. Jimmy said you ride em' until they are done. We misused him, and I for one will miss him. Next man up now.

Well, he had every chance to do it in the NFL and he didn't. I can only assume that the team felt as if he could not carry the load. Why else would you draft Murray? I have to say that I agree with that point of view.

..which brings us back to my original point, the team mismanaged him. To draft him in the first round, and then not ever even give him the oppertunity, is ridiculous no matter how the team "felt" about him. You'll never find out what you never even give a chance.

Any good will I had towards Felix disappeared when he showed up to camp fat and failed conditioning. Just a pathetic lack of desire and dedication. If Garrett had any stones he would have sent this oaf packing then and there. Hope he makes the team, it will be great watching him get fouled up by the turf demons at another teams expense.

2009 - misses 10 games - back up to Barber

2010 - best year - single carry average until week 9, starting week 10 never dipped below 11 carries with a high of 22

2011 - hurt in week 6 after 5 carries, misses next 4 games, comes back in week 11, carries 5 times goes out, misses week 12, after that plays in week 13 (6 carries), week 14 (16 carries, Murray out for year), week 15 (22 carries), week 16 (4 carries - out due to coaches decision), week 17 (11 carries)

2012 - clearly #2 back heading into season, shows up out of shape after shoulder surgery, weeks 1 -4 had a total of 3 carries, week 6 Murray hurt, becomes #1 back averages 14 carries until week 11, Murray comes back and he's back to single carry games.

As most posters to include myself have stated it just always seemed to be some injury with Felix. My opinion on heart goes to the showing up out of shape and taking so long to get in shape. He was #2 RB on the team with no real competition and fails the conditioning test. I feel what was portrayed by the media and how he looked on games days, that he did not appear to "want" to play the game. Something wasn't right with him mindset wise, in my humble opinion.

Since no one else has acknowledged this post, I will. Good stuff, and a big reason why Glass Joe is no longer on the team.

The "felixfanboys" will continue to spout off "YPC" and ignore this, though.

No, he never showed he could pull the load. I mean, I think the team did make a colossal mistake by drafting him in the 1st round put to say that they mismanaged him is crazy. You have to prove you deserve playing time and earn it. It's that way from the time you 1st play organized football and he didn't do that. He had plenty of chances and he didn't capitalize on them.

If you want to say that the team doesn't run the ball enough, OK. If you want to say that they never should have drafted a situational player in the 1st OK. If you want to say that the team never gave him a chance, that's where we part ways. That, IMO, is very far from the truth and I don't agree. The fact that they drafted him at all is proof that they did give him a chance.

In complete seriousness, I would rather The Cowboys have drafted Felix and what he gave us under his rookie contract as opposed to Chris Johnson and signing CJ0K to the vacation-contract he is currently enjoying.

1700 yards per season
ZERO missed games due to injury...most durable back in the NFL for last 5 seasons
4.7 yards carry with an enormous workload
worst season was still > 1400 yards, best > 2500 (2000 rushing)

yes, Ray Rice a round later (or Jamal Charles two rounds later) would have been ideal, but Chris Johnson has been very good.
Felix and hm do not belong on the same planet as far as total production

Production wise it obviously isn't close. What I'm saying is I'd rather have gotten what we got from Felix and be done with him rather than have a running back who we'd have to guarantee $30 million to and only see him run hard when he feels like it.
