No drops, ran routes hard, great YAC today, and blocked well in running game. If he can play like he did tonight it’s a huge weapon for us. He broke some tackles today. That’s what we need out of that position.
He was also open multiple times and not looked at. He needs to be targeted 10+ times a game. Way more athletic than Witten. Yards after the catch are significantly hire.

I was ok with the Schoonmaker pick assuming he would continue to develop but so far he is showing them nothing as a 2nd round pick. Sure, the blocking is fine but let's be honest, a 7th round or undrafted FA could pretty much do the same thing right now. On all of his targets so far, they've been basic plays that any TE could execute.

With Hendershot out, he couldn't even get a single catch today. He is going to need a big offseason and preseason like Tolbert...otherwise, his future could be in doubt IF John Stephens Jr. returns from his injury and looks as good as he did.

It's just too soon to evaluate most rookies sometimes you can tell after a pre-season, but most of the time it takes a season or two. Most rookies need time to develop and get used to the speed of the game. It's only game 4.
I know what Mayer is. He’s Jake Ferguson.

Can we trade Schoonmaker, Trey Lance, and a 5th Rd Pick to ATL for Kyle Pitts?

As a rookie Ferguson was already comparable to Schultz last year.

I wasn't just fine, I was *happy* contemplating Ferguson as the starter this year. The Schoon pick was unnecessary, but here's hoping he turns out to be a player too.

Dalton Schultz has 10 catches total on the season. Ferguson has 17 and each have one td on the season.

If he's a back up, he's replacing Schultz just fine.
That's nice.

He doesn't stretch the field. That's what I want from my starter. As a backup I love him.

Schultz was a good red zone threat, we don't have a ton of those right now it seems.

Fergy is a good player. He's not a burner but a Schultz type, which is great for Dak. Don't know why we burned a high pick on Schoon.

Although I thought it would an impossible get, I really think we need to call the Falcons about Pitts. They look awful with a QB who isn't reay to be a QB, and can only rely upon the run for yardage. The more that weeks go by and Pitts is rendered useless, the more I think he becomes expendable
Pitts is not expendable to the Falcons - he was the first player for the rebuild on offense under then new GM Terrry Fontenot and HC Arthur Smith. They've since added WR London, RBs Allgeier and Robinson.
He's staying put in Atlanta.

Likely this is the case, but they aren't using him at all and dead focus is on the run game. Their QB looks just awful right now, so I hope, lol

Which makes that draft pick even more infuriating. And it's not hindsight. That was a dumb pick the night it happened. To reach that high for a TE and that one in particular. A guy that doesn't move the needle at all and has injury history. You could find a talent like his in the final day of the draft if you wanted.
Torrence looking pretty good as well but its water under the ridge at this point. I was hot on draft day

The obsession with picks playing up to whatever expectations fans set is irrelevant.
How does Ferguson having a good game become an indictment of McClay and the scouting department

We draft *extremely* well. Should every pick become all pro?

I don’t care as long as someone steps up.
This is true to some degree, but the problem is that it becomes a wasted pick and you've missed the opportunity to improve elsewhere.

I mean they don't use him, I don't see why they'd be opposed to trading him.

That said, I don't think they'd let him go for a price that Dallas - or really anyone else - would want to pay.

What you want from your starter doesn't seem to matter to them believe it or not.
This is a fan forum. For fans to chat and state their opinions.

And my opinion is I'd never let a loser front office of nearly 3 decades think for me.

He's a good backup TE.
He's a good backup TE for a team that has Kelce, Andrews or a few of the other top guys, but few teams have those. It seems reasonable that he can be at least an average starter in the NFL, and possibly more.

The # 2 pick needs to catch a pass in his hands in the end zone . Ferguson on the other hand looked great . I hope to see Ferguson RAC over a 49er safety .
