My fear is ... How does one truly get ready for Week 1 without any meaningful snaps since Week 4 of last year?

Just having Dak on the field is not going to make a difference. Dak has to play well and not be rusty if we want to compete.

I think you will see Dak get in work before the end of camp, Dak has worked throwing with WR during the off season. Lamb had talked about work he put in with Dak during the of season. Dak knows this offense and knows his WR. I'm not worried one bit about him being ready to go. If it makes you feel better I will not make excuses for Dak or any other player. He is a professional and a vet he will be ready to go. Anyone here want to run around hollering the sky is falling and the season is over because the QB is missing 1st part of camp be my guest but I refuse to play that game. Right now for the Dak critics they get to use this as a means of going after Dak, even Ray Charles could see that

convenient excuse for week 1 loss for Dak apologists

Excuse? there is only wins and loses. If Dak is playing then I expect him to perform period. If he is too injured to play then I expect Gilbert to go out and do his job.

I could not careless if Dak plays or not as long as we win the game.

If Gilbert gives us a better chance than "sore arm" Dak then play Gilbert and let's compete. I don't support the idea of Dak working out his "rust" and "sore arm" when the games actually matter.

I want Dak to play because I think he gives us a better chance but once the game get going and Dak is out there I expect him to perform. Right now Cowboys can afford to give Dak time instead of rushing this, last time I checked playoffs do not even start until Jan. Cowboys have a month to get Dak ready to go for Tampa and again I have no doubts he will be ready to go.

My guess is he makes it thru the season and there is some off-season shoulder surgery. Would not surprise me if they limit his throwing in practice during the season. If the Rangers told them to shut him down, they know a bit about it.

I agree. If Dak is healthy and not rusty he absolutely gives us the best chance to win. You're blind if you believe otherwise.

But, I still cannot support the idea of him not doing much at all in terms of throwing the ball or playing a few preseason series in the next month and then going straight into real game action. I don't like the idea of working out the kinks when the games start to count. That's what camp and pre season games are there to help with. If Dak isn't able to do that then I'm not going to be as optimistic about our chances Week 1 as I would be if he was not being limited in training camp.

So, if Dak doesn't play well you're not going to blame it on a "sore arm" and "rust" for not participating in training camp, correct?
Didn't say that. If Dak throws 3 or 4 int's that cost the game then I'll blame him. But if the defense gives up 30+ pts then there will be blame on them as well. It's a team game you know. No, you obviously don't.

He has a month to get ready, he will be throwing ahead of week 1, he is not a rookie and he understands this offense and the WR around him. As I said I expect him to play and I expect him to perform as the vet QB he is. As for this last pre season game just as Big Ben did not play nor did Dak yet Pitt fans are not complaining why Ben did not play. Hell most teams in the 1st pre season will not play their starting QB. Even this coming weekend many teams will not have their QB play or if they do it will be a series nothing more. The 2nd to last pre season is normally where starters including QB will get close to a half of play before shutting it down until the start of the season. Last pre season game I doubt any starters play as teams want to head into the reg season completely healthy if possible. Dak is already doing to light throwing and that will increase as they move forward. So no I am not worried or concerned with Dak being ready week 1.

That's not what I asked. I asked if Dak specifically does not play well are you going to use the "sore arm" or "rust" excuse? I didn't mention the defense or anything else. The defense could give up 30+ AND Dak play horrible also.

Even if we win and Dak plays horrible are you going to have something to blame it on?

That was hilarious video. Some of these trolls post some funny stuff. And that’s really all they are good for . Sheer entertainment. Anything seriously from them is purely agenda driven.

I'm not worried or concerned that Dak plays Week 1, but I 100% am worried and concerned that he will not be ready for Week 1.

I just can't get past the idea of him working out the kinks, soreness, and rust when the game start to count. If his arm is not sore and the rest cured it completely he still needs to work out that rust. The idea of him doing that in the real games just doesn't sit right with me.

and there is a month before the start of the season. He was working out prior to this soreness so it is not as if he has been sitting on his butt the last year. Worst thing Cowboys could do is ignore it and do nothing, they have the chance with no scheduled game in the next month to give him some time. He is back to light throwing and I fully expect that to increase as we move forward. But just pretending like the soreness does not matter and continue to pressing it could lead to a bigger problem. Staff is being smart about this and fully understand the time frame they are working with.
