please explain further oh knowledgeable one. you were affiliated with a band who didnt put out enough good music to sustain a fanbase - so its downloaders fault?

elsewhere in the world, paint dried with more intelligence than the above.

Hahah you are welcome any ole time to make me jump off it. :D You are clearly wrong in this but refuse to call yourself a a thief because of it, yet you come back and spin on a hot plate to make it appear like you aren't doing anything wrong.

I already said I wasn't a saint way back in this thread. I know I was stealing and downloading when I was a runt, thus why I stopped when I did after viewing it in a different light. What I was doing was wrong and that it actually did bother me to know I was taking music/games/apps from someone who worked very hard for his/her material.

Since you aren't a creative person who gets his/her funds from that creativity, you cannot even comprehend the issue.

Its education and understanding really, something you clearly lack my friend.

i steal music. digitally. judge me.

so when do smokers also sell to kids?

the connections you make amaze me, but then again, most villiage idiots do.

i care about the impact is has on the overall industry and getting new bands to give a damn enough to make the investment to be the next generation of bas arse music.

you just wanna download and be happy. you go do that i'm done with you.

it comes from equating a downloader to a pirate. there is a difference between a dealer and a user right? i guess in your eyes that applies to one situation but not the other.

Im not judging. What I do laugh about is that you felt the need to come in here and JUSTIFY your thieving skills and then say you aren't thieving.

You can't do that.

Stealing is stealing.....

DONE!

Well then it is a conscience thing with you. :D The lack of one..so to speak.

Again if you were the one providing for yourself and your family through your creativity and every person was stealing your material when it only costs .99, it would bother you to the last degree, I promise you.

But since you do NOT do that, its ok to take it.

It doesn't matter if its hosted here or in China or Timbukto. If the US feels that there is blatant abuse from those sites in those countries, it will not allow those domains to be accessed from within the USA.

One way or the other if this continues the USA can do w/e it wants to enforce a law if one is handed down in the coming months.

Regardless, it doesn't matter what other countries are doing, the US can use its influence to enforce it by other means to get those countries on board. It happens all the time.

Next thing you know S.KOREA is onboard because we gave them a giant deal on 50 brand spanking new F-16s.

Again I want to be on record as stating nothing will come from this, especially after all of the uproar last week. Those "people" in that place called the hill are already back peddling and hiding away from cameras and microphones.

That isn't saying there shouldn't be something done about it.

that last paragraph was irrelevant to the update i was posting and should not have been included. I in no way wanted to turn this conversation political. Frankly, it doesnt matter who helps or doesnt help enforce this. in fact, this will most likely only end up making the process more efficient in the long run. it has happened again and again over the years. take the streaming process as another example.

Some of my faves are still intact. I need sites that can handle 500MB-1gig uploads of some old Cowboy games I've been converting.

:D I have been going round and round w/ my 11 yr old since last week when he found out his wiki sights were down. He didn't understand why, so I pointed to the SOPA/PIPA site for some understanding and research. He actually came away with a very clear picture of why folks were upset and also why something has to be done to protect the artists/designers of the music and games and other CR material that is being mined from illegal downloaders.

I was pretty impressed to say the least. For a little guy, he pretty much saw the big picture, but wasnt so closed minded that he couldn't understand both sides.

That's where I am. The internet needs to be open and ZERO censorship, but action should be able to be taken against blatant sites who have been found after an investigation to being a harbor for illegal CR data open for free d/l's.

A compromise has to be reached and most people are onboard w/ that.

my question is, will there ever be a way to stop it? not being antagonistic, just curious if you think its feasible to make a significant impact on the amount of content available.

there's a difference between a leaky faucet (80s downloading) and a flood.

to say it's all water is to say you're an idiot.

you don't care - prove it and hush.

funny that you mention 80's downloading tho, as some of those techniques may just see a big resurgence soon.
