Could Brice Butler Replace Terrance Williams in 2016?
Posted on December 31, 2015 by Marcus Mosher

One of the biggest off-season goals for the Dallas Cowboys is going to be to try to find a more suitable complement to Dez Bryant (maybe even a replacement depending on his health) in 2016. Whether they choose to do so via free agency, the draft, or within the organization, it’s going to be fascinating to see how the address that need. Throughout the off-season, we are going to examine players from all three of those avenues to find the most suitable complement. But today, we are going to look at Brice Butler and how he may factor in next season.

Brice Butler is a soon-to-be 26 year old, formerly a seventh round pick by the Oakland Raiders in 2013. Butler is still on his rookie deal, but his contract will expire after the 2016 season, as will Terrance Williams’:

Yes, if he puts in the work this off season and develops a rapport with Tony. Williams is solid #2 but there is nothing special about him and his contract will be up soon.

Not sure if he will be #2, but he could push for it, or at least much more playing time.
But it would be nice, Dez and Butler on the outside, put TWill in the slot.

What other option do we have? Williams isn't very talented, and most importantly is a lazy route runner. Dude takes every other play off.

No idea, but one thing is for certain and that is we definitely need a better #2. TW has played this year ...well like #2

I understand that thinking, however,
Break it down to what QB was throwing the ball to him. And without a threat on the other side, he couldn't do much. But was he double covered, rolled coverage.
Any way, he still should have got open more than he did. It shows he is not a #1 WR for sure. but we already knew that.
He is serviceable, but need to find his replacement. Rather that is Butler, in the draft, or a FA, we shall see. My guess, they will roll with the same, unless someone falls to them.
But when he makes some of those nice catches, and big catches, you can think, man he is good.

Doubt it. Sounds like he does not have many supporters in the organization. Even Stephen Jones was pretty negative about his work ethic.

Would have been nice to have seen more of him this year. No idea why he wasn't utilized more.

The reason I say that is that he couldn't get open, and dropped passes. He was fine last year when he was the forgotten man behind the threats posed by Murray, Dez, and witten. Another thing I don't like about him is a lack of deep speed.

I like what I have seen of butler, but JG does not move guys up like that, unless the other player is hurt.

Look and McF, he didnt get to start until randle got hurt, and he did good, that is the only way guys get replaced here,

Based on what?

Watching him run the wrong routes and make bone headed decisions during Dallas Cowboys games. Plus he can't stay healthy constantly tweaking hammys, other minor injuries since he came into the league and the fact that he couldn't break the Oakland Raiders lineup is certainly an indictment.

Heck, I'd bunch Dez with one of them outside and then motion Dez to the slot. This is coming from someone with little scheming knowledge but it sounds interesting to me. :)
