Over the past 7 years (including 3 years in the pros and his 4 year college career at USC/San Diego State) -- Bryce Butler has averaged 210 receiving yards pers season.

This year he as 198 yards receiving. Just about on target for his average once again.

Maybe <next year> is the year where he figures it out... anything is possible. Having said that I wouldn't hold my breath.

The Butler did it.

He showed we can move on from Street and look for another explsovie WR in the draft.

Dez-TWill-Beaz-Butler-Draft

I didn't have a lot of takeaways from this game but that is one of them. Dallas really needs a #2 WR and should try to get a solid, stretch the defense guy in Free Agency if possible (or an unstoppable guy like Alshon Jeffrey).

If you can't do that, draft a WR in one of the first 65 picks. I wouldn't be afraid to take Laquon Treadwell if you trade down and he is at the top of your board at picks around 8 - 12.

Pick up a good second option to Dez and then let TWill, Butler, Whitehead and Street come to training camp and fight for snaps.

I wouldn't be upset with two receivers in the draft. I am not up to date on all the college players yet but the receiver from Texas Tech reallly impressed me. He is small but he looked fast even with all those LSU players on the field in the bowl game. If he is a good character kid and is there after the third round, I would love a guy like that.

I am also interested to see how will Fuller from Notre Dame tests out. Will he make it to the second round? He made a lot of big plays deep with some young QBs this year.

i don't see it. He looked pretty pedestrian to me. Surely, we could do better.

He's much better than Street. Unless they make a FA signing and/or use a 1-4 Rd draft pick on a WR, he's currently one of the top 4 WRs on the roster.

Given his size and speed, he's someone I could see benefitting from Romo's wizardry at QB.

I agree with your first point but would prefer the favorable comparison to be with TWill.

As for your second point, that is the big unknown as we have seen what Romo was able to do with the likes of Robinson.

At the end of the day, neither Butler nor anyone else has convinced me that we are set at WR, so I would bring in whatever talent is available in the hopes of upgrading the unit for next year.

I agree. Other than Beasley, the team is so set on the 6'2 215 lbs prototype WR, they completely dismiss the ability to create seperation with speed/quickness. An Isaac Bruce type opposite Dez would sleepwalk to a 1200 yd 10+ TD season.

Posting this here because it's talking about the WR group.. That, and I'm not yet able to post new threads. I just kind of found it funny..

I was watching Beasley's exit interview, and noticed this written behind him, on his locker. Someone must really love this guy!

I just hope he can beat out Street next year.

Odds are that Williams will be our #2 again next year. He does well when Romo improvises and extends the play IMO.

Think we'll draft another guy late.

They need to draft a guy; Williams will not be around much longer once his contract is up. He will want a big pay day and Dallas would be foolish to offer it.

Could Brice Butler Replace Terrance Williams in 2016?
Posted on December 31, 2015 by Marcus Mosher

One of the biggest off-season goals for the Dallas Cowboys is going to be to try to find a more suitable complement to Dez Bryant (maybe even a replacement depending on his health) in 2016. Whether they choose to do so via free agency, the draft, or within the organization, it’s going to be fascinating to see how the address that need. Throughout the off-season, we are going to examine players from all three of those avenues to find the most suitable complement. But today, we are going to look at Brice Butler and how he may factor in next season.

Brice Butler is a soon-to-be 26 year old, formerly a seventh round pick by the Oakland Raiders in 2013. Butler is still on his rookie deal, but his contract will expire after the 2016 season, as will Terrance Williams’:

If Butler is going to be a key contributor going forward, he needs to work on conditioning. Way too winded way too much.

Late? Some mocks have us taking Laquan Treadwell with the 4th pick overall.
