The 2007 defense had the human version of burnt toast in Jacque Reeves, they weren't much better than in 2016.
LMAO that 2016 D was terrible. Carr and Mo weren't any better. They only benefitted from not being on the field much. 2007 dline was pretty darn good.

2007 dline was pretty good, but they had terrible inside linebackers, the worst slot corner in the league, and safeties that were really bad in coverage. Neither defense was good, but at least in 2016 they had Sean Lee to clean up the middle of the field and nobody that was as easily picked on as Reeves.

A few notes:

* I was and will always be an ardent Romo Fanatic.
* Posting these to hopefully put into perspective our current qb
*Romo's first start happened mid season in year 3 of his career at the age of 26. Dak is still 25. These numbers represent the first 39 starts of their respective careers, not including playoffs.
*Romo's weapons were 2006- Owens + Glenn (both 1000 yards), Prime Witten, Crayton as 33rd wr, Barber and JJ (combined for 1800+ and 18tds) 2007- same minus Glenn, 2008- Mostly same, add Bennett, Felix jones, remove JJ.

*Dak's weapons in passing not close to what Romo was working with, Dak did have better OL at least one year and Zeke.
Romo- In a more wide open passing offense vs heavy run offense for Dak.

Romo

815 completions, 1280 attempts- 63.67% 10,300 yards, 8.0 YPA, 78 TDs, 43 Ints, 95 Rating, 63 sacks, 263 rush yards, 2 rush tds

Prescott

747 completions, 1155 attempts, 64.7%, 8408 yards, 7.3 ypa, 53 TDs, 21 ints, 94 rating, 80 sacks, 875 rush yards, 14 rush tds

My takeways: Dak's completion percentage is actually higher than Romo's. Does this mean Romo was inaccurate? More than twice the interceptions in about 100 more attempts, was Romo's "spatial awareness" still developing? Dak sacked at a much higher rate. 80 tds for Romo to 67 for Dak. Qb rating very similar.

Total yards: 10,563 for Romo. Dak, 9,283.
Romo had no line and no running game. Is this really a comparison

OK not going to keep going back and forth with you. 2007 team had how many HOFers? 2016 had how many?

3 (TO, Witten, Ware) vs probably 3 (Tyron, Fred, and Martin)? Not sure how that matters, 1 hofer on defense doesn't mean that the defense is any good, as we saw almost every year Ware was in Dallas.

YOu made it sound like Lee was such a differenc maker when I coud say Ware was more of a difference maker. Let's agree to disagree.

Tape doesn't lie. Dak clearly has shown that he is willing to throw to the open guy......get open. Future is bright with Gallup, Cooper and Beasley....the near future.

Yes, he will throw to the OPENED guy. That's doesn't work in the NFL. You MUST anticipate where your receivers will be open and throw on time with ANTICIPATION. Unfortunately, he's doesn't have those traits. By the time receivers are OPEN, it's too late.....pass rush is there and DBs are driving on the receivers.

A player comparison..

Player A ) 961 Yards - 5 Tds , 4 Int

Player B ) 508 Yards - 5 Td's , 1 Int

Player A is Dak's first 5 games of this season. Player B is Romo's week 5 game vs the Broncos a few years back.

Again comparing when the O-line was great to this year's line - no comparison. That 2016 O-line not only allow Prescott time to find receivers but also open holes for Elliott which took a lot of pressure off Prescott. Next time try adding apples and apples.

I'll give you the best example of a QB just throwing where a receiver is supposed to be and how that's not such a great idea. steelers QB O'Donnell in Super Bowl XXX threw to where his receiver was supposed to be TWICE and both times Larry Brown was there and picked both passes off. That and "throwing a receiver open" is also a big myth. If a receiver is covered and there is no separation throwing the ball ahead of him doesn't magically get the receiver separation. According to your idea you're saying no receivers get open so don't waste your time throwing to open receivers instead just throw the ball where you think they'll be. Please watch more football first.
