Nah, it seems they want him as a bridge QB or not at all.
Well, then they are telling him they don't want him. A short term contract is not going to be an option for Dak. If Dallas thinks that is an option, they are playing a different game imo.

Why would Dak want to sign a 2 year deal for a team that is not trying to win now?
Because in 2 years from now his market value will go up, and Dak is about the moola and nothing else. Do you really think he or any other players cares about anything but the payout?

well you can't say that because we came back in some games and he had "garbage" stats, he's great ya know!!! I love him lol (JK)
Does CD play on the same team as Dak???

Is CD one of the best WR in the league???

Or is he a fraud that gets his stats during garbage time???

Make it make sense.

I do not think it has anything to do with his playoff failures ....... I think the doctors and trainers are telling Jerry something.

Hence the short contract.
What could they be telling him though? His arm is gonna fall off? He’s a pocket passer pretty much. I think if this was the case we’d hear mysterious reports about how Daks body is breaking down.

Not sure a 2 year deal is smart if you’re about the moolah

Then explain why he has not signed it?

Surprised at this report. Would think it would be reversed. Taking it with a grain of salt.
Why would it be reversed? If Dak signed a 2 year deal, all draft picks would be going towards trying to find his replacement.

How would that help Dak???

How does this change anything anyone has said? I think we all already knew the 2 sides dont agree on what they want....FA is the market and thats on Dak's teams side...Question has Dak agreed to a shorter deal with the Cowboys? Why do you think that is?
No.

You're correct, after this season. But it's 55M this season. Plus the 40M going forward. So if they gave him an extension today, it's 95M plus the extension.
Okay, gotcha. Thanks

This is a bit extreme. He's done more than flash. He's a plus-NFL QB.

That said, I'm generally with you on your points.

He mostly folds against top teams, and will flop when least expected. He no longer rises to the occasion. He's had multiple chances to do so.

He's understandably not the same warrior as he was prior to his injury- but there's a choke factor he's inherited.

I let him walk: unless he appears and plays wellin the NFC Title game.

I'd actually roll with Lance sooner than later to see what he can do or can't. Either way- you're targeting a QB high in the draft in 2025.
If Dak makes it to the NFC Championship game AND PLAYS WELL...they would almost be forced to sign him. Human beings love stories...and the story would be incomplete and the fan base would clamor for another go-round.

Outside of that...I believe Jerry can let him walk with few repercussions to the bottom line. He gets to the NFC Championship game and chokes...we should let him walk. You can't fix the guy who can't make the 6 inch putt.

This is stupid. They sign him for two years and we are back in the same spot we are in now in 2026.

Just move on man. Sign a vet in free agency and draft a qb in April
Either that or make Lance the starter for this year and still draft a QB in April... Either way works for me...

Is confirmed the team wants a two year deal? What's considered short?

I would of thought Dak would want a 3-4 year deal and the team would want 5+ voids.

A 3-4 year deal would put him at 34-35 and enough to get a Kirk Cousins retirement signing.

The extension would be after this year. They are not going to push this years cap hit for him down the road.
So then we would eat this year’s dead money and the extension would kick in at the beginning of ‘25. So any signing bonus would be applied to ‘25 and forward. So the cap credit card would be the 40 million plus whatever guarantees the new extension would get. If I’m understanding that right.

This is why I don’t understand why Jerry would want a 2-3 year deal because on the cap credit card we already got 40 million. I would assume he’d want a longer deal to spread the existing 40 million out plus whatever the new signing bonus would be. A 5 year deal, which is what Dak wants, could make that possible.

If Jerry wants Dak to stay than a longer deal makes sense. I’m doubting if Jerry wants Dak to be here. And now that statement Dak made about “how people feel” makes more sense.

I disagree. After a two year deal Dak will be 34 going into the 2027 season. Don't let the fact that some QBs have played until an older age fool you into thinking it's the norm. It would also give us time to find an actual replacement instead of a guy who will never be more than a #2 in Rush or Lance who is in no way whatsoever ready to be an NFL QB and IMO never will be although I acknowledge that some people think Lance has it in him. I assume they haven't actually watched him and are going off of his draft status, but none the less
