I don't care what Jerry or Stephen say, they went against their board last night. Terrible decision.

Would be real interesting to see what their board looks like after the draft.....

You make a great point...they went against their board last night

Which you should never do:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

More proof Jerry has lost his mind....literally

If I'm Ciscowski, and I've spent an entire year preparing a draft board, and my #7-graded player miraculously falls in my lap at #18, and my idiot GM trades down, losing value in the process to a team with more picks than you can shake a stick at, and selects a player in the 1st round that I've got graded (and who expected to be taken) in the 2nd round, then I tender my resignation today.

this is what you get when your GM is busy doing the X-games rather than spending time @ the SR Bowl.

Jerry clearly has his own agenda. And it's all about what Jerry wants to do. Not what is best for the Dallas Cowboys

If I'm Ciscowski or Garrett I don't think you have a choice. You have been neutered by your incompetent owner. What else is there to do?

Go down with the sinking ship?

Not sure why everyone is so high on Floyd. Over 20 other teams passed on him and from the blogs in Minnesota, there was a very nice debate on whether they should take him in their warroom.

As to Frederick, it appears from Ozzie in Baltimore that they would have taken Frederick at #32 if Dallas hadn't taken him. He was appartently ranked around the 20 spot on their board.

Value is in the team for any individual player regardless of what we fans think or what the so called experts think.

If Frederick starts the season as the starting center or guard and Romo isn't running for his life to make throws then I really don't care how good Floyd does or does not turn out to be. If Frederick is as good at anchoring the line and opening holes for the RB, does it really matter what the guys we didn't take do.

The value is in the eye of the beholder. If our running game gets better especially in the red zone and Romo has more time to throw out of the pocket instead of running around to make a throw then the value is far greater than anyone else we would have drafted at that spot.

If the snaps get to Romo quicker and not on the ground or over his head, then the value is much greater. Whether Frederick is ranked 1 or 99, it is the value to our team that counts not some experts value.

what you say is true about frederick

but by all accounts, floyd was the highest rated player on our board at 18

if he was there after a year's worth of evaluation, then we cant throw out that evaluation in the space of 5-10 minutes

that is exactly how teams make stupid decisions, acting impulsively and not trusting their scouts and evaluation process

this is exactly what happened here, we passed on our highest rated guy (potentially an elite guy at a position of need) because "why are other teams passing on him? what dont we know?" and made a bad trade down

It's really a shame, isn't it?

You never go against your board, ESPECIALLY in this situation. Fisher reported that Floyd had a TOP TEN GRADE on their board. You simply TAKE FLOYD. If you aren't going to take the 7th highest player on your board at #18 overall, DON'T PUT HIM ON YOUR BOARD IN THE FIRST PLACE.

It's the EXACT same reason why LeSean McCoy isn't a Dallas Cowboy.

According to JJT earlier this week, Garrett has final say so shouldn't your wrath be focussed on him?

I think we would've been all over Floyd if were still 3-4. Passing on him, especially w/ Kiffin and Marinelli on board, tells me he was not a good fit.

Based on my random survey of five teams, here is where Cowboys No. 1 Travis Frederick was on draft boards: 4th (1), 5th (2), 6 (1), 6-7 (1)

I had him as a 5th as well......

Slowest 40 time @ the combine in 20years:lmao:

I could forgive the 40 time if he was strong.....But his bench press was only 21 reps. Which is below average:eek:

this may be the biggest reach in the Jones' era....

Ranks right up there with Shante Carver:lmao2:

So why not Sly Williams in the 20s and Frederick or Schwenke later?
Williams seemed like a great fit.

my thoughts exactly

because according to Jerry we are fine on DL

Jerry didn't just say we were fine, he said DL IS A POSITION OF STRENGTH.

The man is actually senile.

I am a little surprised (not upset) with taking Frederick (btw, I HAVE to like a guy with "fred" in his name, right?), but I am not upset at all that they didn't take Floyd. someone that falls that much is not worth the pick where the Cowboys had him available - something just didn't smell right (and not like the smell of Pugh for the giants :D)

Day two will obviously let us know if they have a plan or not as a FO...but, we were/are all clamoring for an improved offensive line, so let's embrace the improvement that Frederick will bring. He is a really smart guy to go along with his strengths. You need a guy at center that runs the show and helps to read the defenses. This guy can do that.

That's what 20 something other teams told themselves about Aaron Rogers.

OH MY GOD, FIVE TEAMS HAVE HIM RANKED OUT OF THE 1ST 3 ROUNDS SO HE MUST BE TERRIBLE!

This board is so pathetic, it's not even funny. It's like people actually try to find ways to be miserable about this team. Why even root for the damn team if you're just gonna look for negative things every day?

In fairness, most of them are just regurgitating the media narrative. the Dez saga last year, the indignation over Brent, the list goes on.

I quit paying attention to ESPN yesterday when I saw the B grade and 22 overall ranking for Pugh.
