That one would be a shocker for me. After all of the time missed, I don't expect Lewis to be active. If he is, why bother to trade for Benwikere at all?

I need to see another source confirm that news.
You doubt Mike Fisher???

If any criticism of a player based on past performance is "moaning" to you, that's your issue.

And any failure to handle that criticism is yours.

There's a difference between worrying about a player who has shown to be average over a multi-year career and "bashing" them. But I guess for you, it's all or nothing and nothing in between. Again, your issue.

You're right: hating it when Cowboys fans "criticize" Cowboys players who have yet to play a down for the team is definitely my issue. Cowboys fans bashing each other is an issue for me as well, so I apologize for the "moaning" comment. Living in the heart of Commander country, I know at least as well as anyone the constant barrage of criticism that gets lobbed at America's team and those of us who love it, and it rubs me the wrong way a lot of times when I read/hear those things coming from us--especially when a guy hasn't been on the field yet in the silver and blue. I think we all agree that we'd like to see somebody other than Nolan Carroll on OBJ come Sunday night, but as I said, I'm going to wait until he plays a down or two before I start posting how much he "stinks."

McCourty signed in Cleveland for less than what we are paying Carroll. Crap, I'd have brought Claiborne back before Carroll, even with his injury history. His upside blows Carroll's away and he also was cheaper than Carroll.

Not sure if Newman would have shaken free from Minnesota (not sure when he resigned), but I'd have taken him on a two year deal over Carroll too.

you and I at least agree about Newman - we never should've cut him.

Jaylon probably plays only base D, which is less than 30 snaps. Durant and Wilson probably split Nickel snaps.

Sweet! Lewis is rusty as hell and gets to face the giant juggernaut receivers! Trial by fire!

Ballers gon' ball! He will pick off Eli! Book it

How many CB's doing we usually have active. If 5, I can see not getting many if any snaps

Off topic but is Price backup 1-tech or 3-tech? Depth chart shows him at 3-tech but the dude is 325 pounds.

I fully expect our cornerbacks to be worked over. The rookies got next to no meaningful reps in preseason/practice and no familiarity with proven NFL talent ala OBJ and Marshall.
The saving grace could be thats its Week 1 and the Giants quite locked in yet. Happens sometimes. Odds improve if OBJ doesnt play.

Very troubling though

The rookies are #4 and #5 on the depth chart.

If healthy I expect the Giants OC to look for matchups against or rookies.

Gonna be tough to do if the rookies are on the sidelines.

Carroll, Scandrick and Brown will be the Top 3 CBs and in nickel. I suspect in the dime, they'll go with Frazier at S along with Heath and Jones will be the floater. Not that Frazier playing is all that great.

I really doubt Lewis will even be active and Awuzie will play all that much in this game.

He is not even on the roster at this minute. They had him on it yesterday but at 6-1, 303 instead of 6-3, 325. Interesting note, the other Brian Price is 6-1, 303.

I would have thought Benwikere would have been the 4th cornerback, just based on experience alone. Otherwise, I see very little reason for the trade for him at all. My thinking was that it was made strictly because Awuzie, and much more so Lewis, weren't ready to get on the field.

If not, I'm asking why the guy is here at all?

He's here because Marquez White has a long way to go. He's here as a fallback in case Awusie and Lewis can't go ... which we weren't sure of when we traded for him. He's here because he is a good player on special teams if he isn't needed for anything else.

Why do we love to torture ourselves with corners like Carroll every year.

Our coaching staff can be so frustrating some times

Despite what fans here think, Carroll has played in the league and played well enough to actually be used as a starter. Outside of Scandrick and Brown, the coaching staff really has no idea what the others will do when they are on the field.

Frankly, I believe the rookies should have to earn a role by beating out players like Carroll. In order to do that, they have to clearly show that they are better or the staff is going to err on the side of experience.
