Rumor is the Colts don't want him.

But..but... he is the best rb in the league! Everyone will fall all over themselves to sign him if Dallas does't break the bank to keep him.......won't they??.... /sarcasm

I don't see ANY way he re-signs here now that the super genius Chipster just gave Gore 5 mil per to come to Philthy. Our fans are getting a kick out of it, but idiotic deals like that hurt our slim chances with DM. He's as good as gone now UNLESS all the stud RB's in the draft help drive his value down. Just a freaky number of VERY good RB's in this draft:

Gordon, Gurley, Yeldon, Davis, Ajayi, Coleman, Johnson, Langford, Cobb, etc....

If we get Gurley or Ajayi I won't even miss Murray.

Time to put the franchise tag on players is over.
Did not know that, but still too bad. Even if we did that, Murray probably would sign that offer anyways. Oh well.....

The lessons have been learned here and the parameters are being observed.

JMO but that is code for "we learned our lessons from the bad contracts" like MB3 and Carr for example. As a fan base we have cringed when those kind of deals were done only to come back and haunt us when the contract outlived the players. Well, those days are seemingly in the past. Even the most hardcore disbelievers have no choice but to see the new way of doing business isn't just a fad at Valley Ranch.

When it comes to Murray I find it interesting that he had his best season by far in his contract year. In the past we know Jerry would have opened up the checkbook. Now he doesn't seem inclinded to take the bait. Now there is a line drawn in the sand and either Murray wants to be a Cowboy for what Jones is offering or he doesn't. We're not getting into a bidding war. We're ready to move on if necessary.

It couldn't have been because the Oline made major improvement and the staff made a commitment to RUN the ball.
Romo had his best season, was he just helping Murray get a new contract? You know since it wasn't a contract year for himself.

People man.. I tell ya... We take a major step towards having a Lombardi in sight and people truly believe the RB that significantly helped drive that progress is expendable. You keep the core together. Period.

Two steps forward...

One step back...

The story of our Cowboys.

Nevermind the fact that Romo's window is down to two years and that "expendable" back did an admirable job keeping him upright... among other things.

Silliness.

I agree with you. We might well see 3 go in the first round my friend!
The NFL is a copy cat league and the pattern has been set by Seattle,
San Francisco, & now Dallas. Run the ball behind a great offensive
line, control the ball thus the game, keep the defense off the field if
possible and win the game. Sounds like a pattern used by great
teams of the past like Green Bay, Pittsburg and the Dallas Cowboys.

What was old has been made new again and long live the great
running backs. Now Dallas go getchu one!!!!!

thank god we got our Oline built before the copy cat league does their copying
The Oline is what we have to keep together in the future and they will be bad assed

Have you noticed too that not one has the success in contract yr been brought up by anybody?

Dez was in a contract year as well, wasn't he?

Different players, different performance. Dez has been playing elite at his position for several seasons now. We know it wasn't just a contract year driving him. We don't know Murray performed the way he did because of a contract year, but it is fair to speculate due to the differing performance from years 1-3 and year 4.

Murray ran behind a great line. Without it, he'll do squat. Hate saying that but IMO its the truth. Bring in Ajayi and a low round thumper and we'll be just fine. Id like some speed at the RB postion and in saying that.... Murray looked faster at the beginning of the year. He may have been over used cuz he slowed down towards the end. This is a tough situation to judge. Love Murray. Hate the situation. But.... I love my Cowboys even more!

Without Romo, Dez would be above average but no where near elite. Romo makes his
WR's better ask TO in his last years or a nobody like Laurant Robinson. Dez should
be out praising his QB and he might get his long term deal someday.

Murray is a class act and I will miss watching him if he leaves. Man I hate the business side of the NFL.

Romo has been consistently good for almost a decade now.

He has a better team around him going into next season and that's why it should be easier to plug a new rb into the system. (Hopefully one with more speed)

Bologna. Sick of this touting of our O-Line like it was the Great Wall all over again. Both Romo and Murray made our line look far better than it actually was, and I don't want a single person throwing our O-Line grades at me. We all watched the games. Murray made plenty of plays out of nothing, Romo avoided multiple sacks, our offensive line still needs to improve; they were not up for the big games, why? Because they still have plenty of flaws.

So this crap that our line is what made Murray great is ridiculous. Murray was closing in on a big year, injuries and our offensive game plan didn't allow him. And don't sit here and tell me we're going to find a three down back in the draft with Murray's patient running ability and receiving ability. Murray's talent at RB isn't found in the draft every year.

Rappaport on Mike and Mike pretty convinced that Murray will receive an offer the Cowboys will choose not to match.

Gotta shore up the defense in free agency so you can comfortably select Gurley/Gordon at 27.

Yeah because him verbally praising Romo and telling the world that without Romo he is just "above average" really helps him in negotiations. Some of you guys kill me. Lol.
