Fisher on Murray

LMAO!! Not wanting Demarco back?? What are you guys nuts? I don't want to pay him top money either, but I want him back. He's the reason we were here in the first place! Anybody that thinks we can just plug anybody back there and be same are foolish. (I remember everybody wanting Hambrick in for Emmitt as well) The dude is a 5 tool player at RB. By the way he's only 26, not 30!

I agree mostly, but I'll also say we fans convince ourselves that players are irreplaceable all of the time, or at least really critical to a team's success. Then teams lose them to injury or free agency and it turns out the player wasn't all that critical.

Outside of QB and probably LT and RDE (despite cutting Ware), the loss of any one player doesn't seem to have an effect that's all that difficult to replace.

If we won't break the bank at RB expect us to go back to 8-8 with a mediocre run game again next year.

Anyone have a video of this play?

I was at the game and never saw a replay...the hole liked gigantic, but Murray isn't one that scores from far out like that...still a huge play, if he hangs on

Video please

Randle busts through that hole for an easy TD 100/100 times.

Love what Murray did this year, but you don't break the bank for him. Marion Barber would have had plenty of success behind this line too IMO. Neither have breakaway speed.

you cant pay everyone, randle and dunbar with a rookie or williams should be sufficient

I can see them wait for ap or draft a guy. Our oline is unbelievable.

Randle will start next year. I have to admit that he has a burst that Murray lacks.

RB's are oil filters; use them until the quality degrades and replaced.

I must admit that I love Melvin Gordon, but he can't play DL.

I want breakaway speed

Agreed, I even wonder if Murray would've scored had he not fumbled. Nonetheless I love Murray's patience when hitting the hole, very Emmitt-esque, however I'm disturbed that he lacks a second gear when he gets into the secondary. IMO we overworked him by 80-90 carries, those carries should've been distributed to Randle and Dunbar.

is it possible for another Dallas multi-millionaire/billionaire to employee Murray (or Dez for that matter) as a professional speaker, advisor, dog walker etc. for 2M per year while he remains a Cowboy? Basically would have two jobs as long as he were in Dallas...

Whatever.

That fumble on what would've more than likely been a TD very well could have cost the team a chance to play in the NFC Championship. Not placing it all on him but you can't fumble in that situation.

So, this wasn't a great play by the defender who was engaged with an OL and made a head's up play? It always has to be someone fault.

The size of the hole indicated he would have no problems going through it. Peppers (I believe) made a terrific play coming from nowhere. It is what it is and he should not be penalized by the fans because of it. Rewriting history or looking for the exact moment when the team didn't win is wasted effort. Dallas did not outscore Green Bay. That is when it happened.

Further, Dallas is about to make a huge mistake with Murray. I sense Jerry thinks anyone of 500 RB's can make the plays Murray does.

The idea a scat back can replace the guy who continually moves the pile forward as he gashes the defense for the dirty yards is folly.

It's like you guy look but don't see. See but don't remember. How many crappy RB's has this team had before a guy who came and broke Emmitt's single season record? How many crappy running games has this team had before they could take the burden of winning off Romo and give him a balanced offense?

Or to put it in a way you people will understand, Romo throws an occasional interception for whatever reason and he is Romo and must be forgiven. Because he is elite. His states say so.

Murray runs with authority and gets the yards necessary (except when the coach decides to the ball on short yardage and it goes horribly wrong) and here comes the brain trust here whining about Murray's cost and ignoring his results. His stats say he is elite. But you folks believe any running back will do. You are Jerry, hurt feelings and espousing nonesense, and will find we slip back to the days of Romo having to carry the team on his shoulders if you monkey with this dynamic.

I see comments all the time where one poster will question another posters football knowledge.

I don't have football knowledge. I'm a fan.

But what I have is a long life full of experience and learning. And one thing I know for sure.

You don't fix what ain't broke.

Yes, fraud is the answer.

I would like Murray to stay here. To me, it's more about the length of the contract than the money. That's why I think franchising him might be a good idea. It will at least test the waters on that 385+ carries theory without fully committing.

I believe the 'policy' in place has to do with the same problem they had in the past and discussed last offseason...paying players in their 30's. Obviously, Murray is not in his 30's, but I think they probably view the RB position differently given it has a shorter shelf life. If so, that's good for us in the long haul.

I'm telling you, man...I fully think that if we let Randle carry the load next season, he is at LEAST a 1300 yard. 7-8 TD kinda guy. The kid can freaking PLAY!

I think Randle can produce behind this offensive line no question, but I also think if that were the plan you have to bring in another guy who can get you those "dirty" yards.

We are a bunch of self-hating Cowboys fans sometimes....

Well said!

As mentioned, he's very solid in all facets...which sometimes seems to be overlooked. I really like the player & think he loves being a Cowboy. But they won't be able to resign everyone, and given his position...I wouldn't overpay.

If they're unable to keep him...perhaps Jerry brings in AP if he's done in Minny & the money is right?

If drafting a guy higher to replace Murray if he leaves...Tevin Coleman is among my favorites.

Murray will be a Patriot, Dolphin, or Buffalo next year. My best guess is Buffalo.

This. Thoughtful. Includes an answer to the question. Not emotional or one derived from hurt feelings.

Just a business decision. Franchise the guy and see. Test the waters. Don't mess up the offense by guessing anyone can take this guy's place.

Sometimes it's better to just have your car fixed instead of buying a new one. Franchise fixes what we know works for one year.
