Not against taking a QB though that doesn't look like the direction Dallas is pointed. ... but any year you don't have one you will likely land a Draft Choice early enough to take a QB.

I wouldn't be so sure about Dallas won't take a QB in round one. I know JJ has come out and said that he expects Tony to play a few more years, but there have also been a number of statements that hint that they may very well take one if the value is there. My guess, and none of us will know for sure, is that if Dallas has one of the QB's rated very highly on their board and he's available when they pick, they take him. It really comes down to where players are on their board. I certainly don't think they will reach at all for one, but if the value is there at the pick, they'll pull the trigger. Just my "Joe Fan" opinion, of course.

I'm fine with this. I just don't want the team to feel it is absolutely essential to take a QB in the first. It is only absolutely essential to take an impact player in the first...QB or not.

Well if Goff is gone or the Browns take a QB....

It's a boom or bust proposition. The Cowboys must hit the lottery with this QB pick.

You're thinking the same as me...if the Brown's take a QB, JF is a Cowboy, like it or not. Another possibility (and another one I, personally, would not like to see) is that JJ goes after RG3. Oh dear Lord, I hope my thoughts are just those of a no-nothing fan, and nothing more.

Jerry can't go after RGIII. His contract is prohibitive. Manziels however is perfect.

I agree...the fact that Jerry can hardly go a week without talking about him over the past several months tells me all I need to know.

I believe RGIII is pretty much a lock for free agency.

I'm not a big fan of any of the QB's at the top of this class... I would avoid them like the plague in the first.
Maybe when it all shakes out Cook could fall to the second round. Or Sudfield/ Kessler in the 3rd/4th... all guys I like as much as Goff.

But really, I'd look to move down a little and grab Elliott in the first.

I actually would be interested in one man's take on Johnny Football and that would be Romo. He always seemed to have the knack in pre-season to tell us his prediction on who his next breakout player would be. He also said he would be the guy to pick the QB to eventually replace him. Romo is a Jedi and when he retires as QB from the Cowboys, he will only become stronger. So I would give up a 2nd or 3rd for JF, if Romo is ok with it.

Tony Romo the Jedi Master? I like it. "Always two, there are; no more, no less. The master and the apprentice."

The defense is good enough now . Even with this inept offense they've played extremely well. They will improve if our offense improves next season. I go offense heavy in this draft .

QB 1st
RB 2nd
Wr 3rd

After that draft defense.

I think Romo would see himself in Manziel. This is an interesting perspective. I wonder if Jerry would bring Romo in and ask his opinion?

Jerry would be foolish not too. Tony is the most instinctive QB to play for the Cowboys since Roger Staubach.

my question is are the jones boys looking to draft a backup or a future starter? a Franchise guy?
If they go high in first round, for one then that is good if there is a good one there.

But just getting another 2nd or lower round QB to me is not a good plan,
Unless they were to luck out and pick the next russel wilson , your just getting a guy who is doesnt have much potential,
and our staff coaching him up, which in itself is a problem.

I would go with maybe the lynch guy or not at all and get a FA as bkup.

I'd rather not dump all of our resources into the offense. How much talent do they need to perform? We already have what is essentially 4 1st rounders on the O-line, a hall of fame tight end, 1st round receiver, and even a 1st round runningback. If we don't go qb, I'm all for giving Marinelli the resources he needs to turn this into a top defense in this league, especially since they are expected to shut out other teams and get 5 turnovers a game.
