Fix the trenches

This team will continue to be mediocre (if that) until we get better in the trenches.

That was the biggest difference in this game. Cleveland was way better in the trenches on both sides. Their $20m DE made game changing plays while ours is a glorified run-stopper.

We need 2 DTs and another pass rusher or the defense is going to continue to suck.
I agree! I would also take a stud safety too

I agree in general that the Cowboys need to get better on DL and OL but the defense looks putrid at every level. I just don't understand how they are this bad. Is it possible Marinelli actually hid their weaknesses, or is Nolan just really horrible?

Maybe, but Ceecee won't matter until both trenches are fixed.
Maybe, but you don’t reach for a Taco when Lamb is there for the taking. Take the smart pick and fill in in free agency.

We should have let Tank walk or traded him. We could have used the 3rd round comp pick this year and filled in another hole.

A hundred percent true. Unfortunately the jerseys dont sell as well for linemen as for skill players and we know what is priority around here, it doesnt appear to be championships. Bottom line they got whupped in the trenches for 307 yards on the ground today. Mind boggling really.

OT may take tine to gel. Let’s give them another 4 games to see if they show improvement. If they still suck I will help you kick dirt on the coaches too.

I don’t think that’s a fair assessment. We wanted Donald but he went before we picked. We were interested in Brockers too, but we did something else that draft. We also wanted JJ Watt, but took Tyron instead. It’s hard to fault them for taking Tyron over Watt.

We have invested on the DL. Two picks for Tank in a trade up. Hill. Gregory. Taco the bust. We just havent been as successful drafting on defense.
Disagree completely, and it's more than fair.

We have invested heavily in 3 tech types. There have been many many prospects w/i reach over the years, and we ignore them. And it's led to this clusterfudge. Bemoaning guys who go before you pick is silly. You gotta get players from the field of guys available when you pick. We simply don't take 1 techs or S's. And it's costing us dearly.

We have drafted in the trenches but the value has been on offense instead of defense when we picked. We forced the Taco pick and look where that got us. What would you give to have a solid starter anywhere on the team, instead of Taco, the bust.

We really weren't in a position to do much about in the 1st the season unless you wanted to make a pretty large. Top tier DT talent gone. Weak DE draft. Im not gonna make a another Taco pick because we need a DT or DE. Roster building doesnt occuring over just one season. There will likely be opportunities to add top level talent at those spots in the near future. A value like Lamb is just not something you pass on, unless you get a better value
That's fine. I like Ceecee. However, until we fix the D, Ceecee will be irrelevant. We cannot afford to do it again.

Yeah, Ceecee is a nice player, Diggs will be good, but it just won't matter as long as we keep losing the battle up front.
And people thought I was crazy for wanting to trade down and take : Isaiah Wilson, T (Georgia)....Once we lost Frederick...a reshuffle felt due.

We have used premium picks on safety. They have just chosen poorly. Who was the guy that we took with a third round pick a few years ago that was a converted RB? That’s the misses that sting.

The same as I'd give to have a solid starter over Jaylon, VanderEsch, Gregory, Terrance Williams, Escobar, or Chaz Green.

Wilcox.

No, we haven't. Wilcox was a late 3rd. Jerry doesn't understand the value of S's or 1 techs.

I don't care that he's a fat slob that can only play on 1st and 2nd down.

I'd call Harrison and bring him in to see if he can help stop the run. This team desperately needs to start putting teams in 3rd and long.
