ok im not giving up on this kid yet.. but i seemed to me the other night Mo was clueless when asked to play Zone coverage. not knowing where or what he was supposed to do... if you look back at the tape when he played 4-5 yards off the receiver he almost always was in zone... got turned around several times.

but when you had him lined up man to man up on the receiver he did not get burned quite as often.

i think coaches need to call more man coverage to his side or just let him play man under

just my thoughts... now destroy it as you will

Guy is looking like a huge bust. Slow, scared to hit, seems to have difficulty understanding concepts (wonderlic) and hardly makes any plays. Oh and seems to come up with phantom injuries to avoid having to practice.

Honestly there is very little evidence that claiborne will have a good career based on his first 17 games

He's a man to man CB in a zone scheme unless he gets bigger and stronger he's not going to be good playing here

He was solid, albeit not spectacular in his rookie season...he has one game in a new scheme coming off of an injury and you guys want to lynch him....what's next? Dez only had 4 catches, perhaps it is time to move on from him as well?

No because dez has always shown the ability to dominate...claiborne has not.

As the 6th overall pick in the draft i expect much more of an immediate contribution unless the player drafted is a qb. Corner is something that is one of the easier positions to transition to....he needs to show something soon. And no excuses from him about his shoulder. He needs to man up and play through it.

Corner is not an easy position to transition into. And it wasn't like the guy was playing against scrubs. Fans must be patient and let the guy develop.

I thought this guy was supposed to be a ballhawk? He has shown none of that in the pros. He doesn't have superior athleticism to fall back on like Peterson. If he doesn't start generating turnovers then this guy will be a bust of historic proportions. Glad our crack front office thought he was the best CB since Deion Sanders.

Sadly so far it looks like our front office greatly over estimated his talent.

Actually next to QB, cornerback is the hardest position in the NFL.

That being said, I agree Claiborne needs to get his act together because he's becoming tired already. I'm in the boat that you give 3 years for cornerbacks, so we'll see.

It's too early to give up on this guy but it's hard not to feel the same way. He doesn't appear to have any truly exceptional attributes which would've warranted that trade up. He's been disappointing overall thus far but I still have hope that he'll be a good corner.

We have a completely new defensive scheme, Claiborne missed all of preseason, giving him no time to adjust to the scheme and he's playing his second year... and yet he's a bust because he was getting burned by Eli Manning, a 2 time superbowl MVP, throwing to Hakeem Nicks.

Football is not a complicated game if you have your priorities straight

One rule of thumb that i have is "never trade up from out of the top 10 into the top 10 for anyone since the price is usually too high. if you want to, it should only be for QB, franchise LT, or game-changing DE"

many of us said this was a bad trade at that time but got shouted down by the usual suspects that our FO said that this is the best CB since dieon

He has missed two training camps due to injuries and on top if that learning another scheme that he has no game situations to fall back on. Granted it would be nice to see him be that college cb we traded up for but then again as outlined above and as well as stated earlier by others cb is the second hardest position in the league. Let's give him some time I'm sure with a few games under his belt in this system he will look better as will his conditioning, I hope that kiffin let's him play man alot or press cause he is a man cb and he looked very good in Ryan's system for a rookie just not the results we are looking for ints.

Frankly i hope they hold him out of the lineup until his shoulder is healed. Maybe he can hit the books and learn the scheme while he recovers.

I dont believe you need 3 years to tell whether a CB is elite or at the very least an above average player. Claiborne is what he is, at best he'll be a less physical Anthony Henry type. At worst..well, you shouldn't have traded up to take him at 6.

Mike Jenkins looked much better in this stage of his career.

We literally kicked Jenkins out so that Mo can have his chance to demonstrate his worthiness of being No.6 pick. I am not too encouraged so far. He looked slow and small on the field.

Fact Alert!!!

Come in off the ledge folks.
