Flurry of activity gets fan interest up

So we make moves, signing players, restructuring to gain cap space. There is talk that 37m is coming when Daks deal is redone. Another 18m if Parsons gets extended.

Stephen says we will be selectively aggressive…leaving people guessing. Jerry and Dak say this team is close so we aren’t rebuilding according to them.

Fans are talking Cowboys again. It appears Jerry heard the complaints from last year and realizes it is time to poop or get off the pot.

But what if….it is the same old same old? Resigning guys that haven’t got it done in the past. Bargain bin shopping.

Will this be more of a slap in the face of the fans than last year?
Do you have some numbers to prove your post?

at his age he may get off the pot and still poop.....it depends

Then Jerry opens his mouth we are not going to be aggressive in Free Agency! This man needs to go !
To be honest he looked old and tired in that interview. He has a bunch of those old people veins that turn purple on his face.

It will be like 2020 there are like 4 guys eberflus the jets coach we have and cardinals coach we have are connected to. They will be signed.

We're signing our own free agents and restructuring contracts to do it. That is what we do entering free agency every year, even last year. The first week of free agency will be more telling. Will the Joneses head out on the yacht for vacation or actually try to draw outside free agents to Dallas in the first or second tier?

I will be surprised if they do anything in FA the first or second week. I will be less surprised if they trade for a player, like they did for Brandin Cooks on March 19 of 2023 and Stephon Gilmore on March 14.
Maybe cupp but prob lockett is signed soon

Well, the only two numbers I’ve mentioned are the money we get from DAX’s contract which already happened you can go to spot track or over the cap and see about the numbers for Parsons. I have posted them numerous times and it’s really not that hard to find them.

They are 54M under the cap. If they resign Micah they'll save another 8-10 this year. They should resign Tyler and Bland and they'd still probably have 40+ to fill some needs. I know they like the cheap FA's, but hope they prioritize key spots like DE, WR2 and they can bargain bin shop for other needs.

One thing to keep in mind is the Cowboys currently have the 5th highest cap hit for 2026. That numbers $226M currently is likely to go up if they extend Parsons, 5th year option Tyler Smith, and sign FAs this year. They also have several players to make decisions on that are due for raises such as Bland, Turpin, Tolbert, Ferg, Aubrey, Sam Williams, etc.

Good chance they try to save $20M or so for rollover cash for next year.

People's interest would be up like it is every year this time of year with the combine and draft talk heating up and greater distance from last year's season.

The only thing really different so far is the new coaching names, but some think BS was a terrible hire.

One hope is that Jerry usually gives a new coach some things he wants the first year or two of his tenure, especially the first. Then as time passes, he inserts himself more and more. We'll see soon if the pattern repeats and we get some decent FAs or we still have to hear how cap-strapped we are.
In a few more seasons of BS Jerry will be the ripe old age of 85-86….

What activity?

Restructuring a few deals and signing our own guys? They do this every year.
In all fairness this is a significant increase and availability in cap dollars and a reflection and a positive in the way they extended Prescott and Lamb who in turn had their contracts restructured.
