Jerry and Stephen told the Fans the back up QB was one of the highest priorities in the offseason. The did nothing while the price tag for a back up QB just doubled,

This is a perfect example of why this Franchise has not one a championship in 20years.

They tried with a couple of guys and they didn't want to come to Dallas. The coaches wanted Moore and he was definitely going to
be the guy until he got hurt. Most teams are in the same boat. If their franchise guy gets hurt, the team sinks like a rock. QB's
are a hot commodity in the NFL now and there isn't enough good ones to go around.

I think that, unfortunately, this team will now give up valuable draft equity to fill another need they could have filled without having to do that. And they may end up doing it twice.

If I am not mistaken, the fifth in 2017 is gone thanks to the trade for Cassel.

They could have had Foles for no draft compensation last week, but had "no interest". Now I expect that they'll be taken to the cleaners by bottom-feeder teams like Cleveland or Tampa Bay for McCown or Glennon.

Just wait for it.

I don't think so. We don't have unlimited cap space to pay for a guy likely to hold a clipboard and spend weeks trying to
learn our system. It was inevitable that Foles would pick the Chiefs cause he knows the scheme and the coach. We probably
offered more money than he got so he really wanted to play for a team and coach he knew well.
So you assume we offered more? Why?

We are sitting around hanging onto Purple Drank because we fear the cap consequences.

The gift that keeps on givin'...

Just wait for it.

At this point? I'm counting on it. They've screwed this backup quarterback thing up about as badly as they could so far, why stop now?

Are the Cowboys in danger of going down the same road as last year, Romo goes down and there is not backup QB that the coaches trust or knows Garrets system. Not sure what the answer is.

Going cheap on defense and not fixing the backup QB positions (Moore was not the fix) says a lot.

So you're saying they're not trading for McCown or Glennon either?

If "we don't have unlimited cap space to pay for a guy likely to hold a clipboard", why do you say that we "probably offered more money"? That looks like an obvious contradiction.

I could get behind Glennon, only if we immediately sign him to an extension, the last thing I want to do is give up resources, just to have him hit the market in the off-season.

I wanted Foles and Freeney. It has been a bad week for me.
You were set up to have a bad week and it was your own fault. It was pretty clear the Cowboys interest in Foles wasn't very high and they clearly weren't interested in Freeney at any point this off season.

It would make for an extremely tricky negotiation. If he's going to give up his chance at free agency, he's going to want to get paid and have a commitment.

You must have heard. We are trying to get back most of our money and cap space from Purple Drank.
It will take most of the season to do it though. Stephen said yesterday that we were tight against the cap
but, we could do a few things. The Cowboy plan is still to bring in second tier and cheap contract guys.

Also, as a Cowboys fan, he was set up to have a bad week anyway.

The Chiefs offered Foles a one year deal with an option for a second. The Chiefs already had 4 QB's on their roster. I suspect they
are looking to unload one of them pronto.

This fails to answer any of the relevant questions asked.

I don't know how much money the contract was for as it hasn't been released yet. I can say that if Jerry and Stephen
really want someone they can move contracts around to make it happen. They obviously didn't want to get into a bidding
war with the Chiefs. At least that's my opinion.

It cost them a 3rd rounder in 2013, so I would guess they want similar compensation. If Leary is worth a 3rd rounder he could be an even trade.
Knowing Dallas they would probably give up Leary plus more. They are scrambling right now.

I don't think this team was ever really interested in Foles. If they were, they most certainly could've had him. Honestly dont think he's much different from Cassell.
Foles is still young and we don't who he really is as a qb, he's not the 27td-2int qb nor the 7td-10 int qb of last year. With the offensive talent that's playing around him in Dallas, we could have had the qb in waiting when Romo leaves. He's different than Cassell in that aspect.

If what Foles got was too rich for the Joneses, then we are in trouble.

I like everything I hear about Mike Glennon. Asking price might just be too high. But at least there's a chance he can play. Nick Foles/Josh McCown at this stage in their careers flat out can't play. Foles isn't old but he's trash.
